Where it all began??

My love for travel began in Mr Russell's geography class at Woody high school. I always remember being mesmerised by the world atlas. Looking at flags, capital cities, oceans, seas and continents I was hooked and decided one day I would travel to these mysterious places.

I sat down in front of the TV with my dad to watch Michael Palin exploring Europe and decided I would do the same that summer. Taking a job at the Cadbury chocolate factory I worked all the hours possible and decided every penny would be spent exploring Europe.

My best mate Boulton and I headed into the unknown with our rucksacks and a tent we purchased for 20 quid. We felt invincible, free as birds! Our European rail pass gave us unlimited 2nd class rail travel including a ferry crossing for £150. We had the time of our lives exploring Europe or in Boulton's case snoring across Europe.

This was my first backpacking trip and my eyes had been opened to the endless opportunities travel can bring. 17 years later i am equally excited at the prospect of taking off and exploring more of this amazing planet.
