Hi.

This old stuffed pronghorn antelope head wants you to know they've remodeled the nature center at the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve in Lancaster (and they've moved the well-worn taxidermy pieces to the back wall. )
The preserve is a fine place to view jackrabbits, quail, coyotes and joshua trees though alas, no pronghorns nearby. See the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve page for details.

There are actually no "secret" places in LA, but the Tujunga Ponds wildlife sanctuary comes pretty close.
Right on the edge of urban Los Angeles, tucked next to the national forest (and a freeway) the ponds are easy to miss and a minor PITA to get to. But they're full of birds and reeds and we think they're really interesting.

The annual Ghost Train in Griffith Park is a spooky treat that even Angelenos may not be aware of but did you know that the famous Valley backyard haunt Boney Island will be there, too? In the adjacent lot, that is. For the first time in its 19-year run the beloved local attraction will be a (separately) ticketed attraction you can add on to your Ghost Train visit.

Instagram user Jim Arnold visited Griffith Park recently and spotted what he took at first for a glimpse of Sasquatch (haha). It turns out to be a photo tribute to the late, much-loved gorilla, Koko. Why it's there, we can't be sure.
