Attaining Spirit

In 2017, in an effort to reconnect with my family across the Atlantic Ocean, I went to South Africa alone, not really knowing the true reason behind my expedition.

The 33 hour trip ended in the coastal town of Durban, in King Shaka International Airport. where my Grandfather, Maurice Mackenzie, Aka “Umkhulu”, aka “Molo” picked me up with a Turbo diesel Toyota Hilux, (basically a suped-up tacoma that can go anywhere and do anything.)

After I got settled in the Truck, I slumbered for a good 3-4 hours and woke up in Zululand, Which is basically Northern KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

As I was driving on the left hand side of the road, watching the small villages pass by, the roads narrowing down to 1 lane of traffic either side, I started feeling this sense of gratitude to the life I had live in the States. I started reminiscing about everything that was available to me, and where the seeds of my happiness grow from.
