HE NEVER BECAME A MILLIONAIRE. If so he was in debt because of it and here's the real tea about that damn pearl.
The one who got it was a fisherman in the Philippines. A documentary team followed his journey with this pearl. They referred to him as Andoy (not his real name) and it's not that he didn't know it's value, he had no idea who to talk to about it. He found this pearl after Typhoon Haiyan hit their area. He saw the pearl while diving for fish because they didn't have food because of the typhoon. He did treat it as a Lucky Charm but eventually, every luck he had from this pearl had a huge consequence along with it. One if the consequences was his wife leaving him, his father getting ill, and his foot being swollen after a construction accident.
Andoy and his kids went to the City of Manila along with the pearl and there they met the documentary team that helped him find out if this was an authentic pearl. It was estimated at around $100M but further research still needs to be done in order for it to be available in the market so they sent samples to Beta Analytics USA. Months later, the American firm has confirmed that it is a real pearl and carbon dating shows that it is estimated to be around 430 years old.
The man had so much hardships after finding out that this pearl is real. His dad became ill and he needed money for the expenses so he pawned the pearl to his boss for 76,000 PHP ($1520). His NDA with the his boss is that he has to pay the said amount in order to get the pearl back. But when he was about to pay and retrieve the pearl, the pawn owner said that they did not have the pearl and that it is in a bank. When Andoy and his boss meet, found out that his money was not enough to pay for the retrieval of the pearl. His bill now went up to 105,000 ($2,100).
