A very special medieval town where cars cannot circulate because it's built on top of ancient wine cellars. A small place but full of curiosities, charms, history, and a contagious enjoyment of its traditions.

We visited Laguardia on our La Rioja Wine & Music Tour, and within its mere 11km municipal area, we had an exquisite wine journey, from the oldest cellars over a thousand years old to the most modern and luxurious ones.

If you want to enjoy this unique and exclusive adventure, book your spot on our next La Rioja Wine & Music Festival Tour (May, 2025).

Urgent Mission to Help Eastern Cuba: Join the HMT Relief Brigade

Dear Music Traveler Friends,

This is not a tour promotion—it’s an urgent call to action. Recent power outages across Cuba have worsened after Tropical Storm Oscar hit the eastern region on October 20, 2024. While power is being restored in Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, and nearby areas remain in critical need. These remote regions struggle to get aid, as much of it stays in Havana, and the situation has deteriorated rapidly.

With our newborn baby arriving on October 19th, Yami and I (Chaz) are unable to be in Cuba ourselves—otherwise, I would have already flown there. So, we’ve decided that the best way to make an immediate impact is to deploy our team and invite six participants to join this relief mission from November 1st to 4th, 2024.

The Mission: What’s Included

This mission focuses entirely on delivering aid to families in Santiago and Guantánamo. Together, we will go house-to-house distributing care packages with items such as:

Solar-powered battery chargers
Battery-powered fans
Feminine hygiene products
Baby formula
Non-perishable foods and more

We will use donations to purchase supplies for our core team’s luggage, ensuring we bring as much as possible. Participants joining the brigade will also need to buy their own supplies following our recommended list.

To view a full list of recommended items, click here. Participants are welcome to bring extra donations but should aim to follow the list’s theme and minimize personal baggage. We recommend packing clothes only in carry-on bags and using checked luggage solely for donations to maximize weight and space.

How to Join the Brigade

We are asking for a minimum trip donation of $1,500 per person, which covers:

Accommodations in local casas
Meals (basic breakfasts and dinners)
Transportation from the airport and throughout the trip

Participants must book their own flights, cover baggage fees, tourist cards, and purchase supplies to fill their checked bags. American Airlines charges $150–$200 for a second checked bag, so please plan accordingly.

This will not be a luxury experience. Power outages are expected, and while we’ll try to secure accommodations with backup generators, this mission is about delivering aid, not tourism. Any musical encounters along the way will be a bonus, not the focus.

Recommended Flights

For your convenience, here are the recommended flights for this mission:

Departure: November 1st – American Airlines Flight 1519, leaves MIA at 8:38 AM, arrives SCU at 10:25 AM.
Return: November 4th – American Airlines Flight 1532, leaves SCU at 11:25 AM, arrives MIA at 1:00 PM.

Can’t Join? Here’s How You Can Help

If you’re unable to join, you can still support the mission by sending donations to my Venmo (-CHAMBERS). Please label your payment “HMT Relief Brigade Nov 2024” and avoid mentioning Cuba or Havana to prevent platform issues.

100% of funds will go toward supplies and logistics. If we raise more than needed, the surplus will fund future relief efforts. Our team regularly travels between the U.S., Mexico, and Spain, and we plan to continue helping Cuba throughout the tourism season.

Why This Matters Now

The eastern part of Cuba, especially Santiago and Guantánamo, has faced significant challenges even before the storm. With an already fragile power grid and limited tourism, the recovery process is slow, and the need is urgent. Traveling directly to Santiago de Cuba (SCU) ensures aid reaches those often overlooked.

This effort will happen regardless of participation—we are committed to sending a team of 3–5 people with supplies. However, with your support—whether by joining the brigade or donating—we can make an even greater impact.

Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions about flights, customs, or entry requirements, feel free to reach out. We’re also open to suggestions for expanding or improving this effort.

Together, let’s bring real help to the people of eastern Cuba.

With gratitude,
Chaz & Yami

Is it dangerous to travel alone to Brazil?

Let's be completely honest. The first time Musical Getaways traveled to Brazil, we asked ourselves the same question, and today we can answer it:
Any place in the world can be safe if you go with the right people.

We've been to very crowded places and more intimate spaces, and we can assure you that Brazil has a unique and magical charm in every corner. We've now become great admirers of its history and culture, its people, and traditions.

Come discover Brazil with us and get ready to experience one of the best trips of your life.

Portal of Saint Mary of the Kings in Laguardia, La Rioja, Spain
This Gothic masterpiece, built in the late 14th century, was a highlight of our La Rioja Wine & Music Tour.

The stunning portal is renowned for its vibrant polychrome and intricate sculptures depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. Its remarkable preservation is thanks to a protective porch that shields it from the elements.
