With our last group of the year headed home from Colombia, we have officially closed out 2024 😭 - While I hate for the trips to end, I love pulling together stats for the past year’s travelers!

It’s a great way for us to understand who our groups are and for you as travelers to see who you are going on trips with!

521 of you joined a trip this year. That’s a humbling number considering it’s ~5X more than just three years ago. Thank you to everyone who returns for trips and continues to tell their friends about us! Word of mouth is the biggest reason our community is growing year over year!

I love the growth and evolving nature of H&NT that the data shows us each year we do this. But, what’s lost when looking at the numbers exclusively are the wedding engagements, birthdays celebrated, reunions from previous trips, and all the new cross-country friendships made. If you’ve been on the H&N journey for some time, you know how fast this sale moves and how quickly trips fill. Here’s a quick timeline along with our suggestions on how to best be prepared:

- Monday, December 2, 2024 - Travel Tuesday goes live early for our email subscribers (Free! Join via link in Bio). 70% of our total bookings during the sale happen this day!
- Tuesday, December 3, 2024 - Travel Tuesday goes live for general public
- Wednesday, December 4, 2024 - Travel Tuesday sale ends at 11:59pm (ET)

Suggestions!
- Align with friends early! Every year, we get emails of travelers asking if they can squeeze on sold out trips because their friend booked an hour before them and the trip sold out in that timespan. Get a plan before the sale goes live and book early!
- Book the trip, ask questions later! We monitor our traveler support emails and texts closely on these days and respond quickly. But, with the speed and volume of bookings we often have situations where travelers miss out on a trip with only a few spots left as they wait for a response prior to booking! Book first, guarantee your spot, then send us a message.
- Remember the flexibility! We allow trip reschedules (penalty free) up to 30 days prior to your trip! We get for some travelers that booking this early is out of the norm. You’re not stuck once you reserve your spot. You can transfer the trip (and discount) to any 2025 trip of ours. You can even transfer the deposit to a 2026 trip ( Travel Tuesday discount can only be transferred if departure date is within 2025).
- Set a reminder/timer! Marketing emails and promotions are flying around this time of year. Occasionally, emails get hidden or lost among the volume. Set a timer and be on the lookout for our early access email on December 2, 2024 at 9am (ET).
- Research flights beforehand! You can see our arrival and departure suggestions (along with airports) for each destination on their destination page.

Iceland Summer! We just added two new dates for one of our OG and most popular trips. Countless hours of sun, volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, and geothermal springs. It’s a one of a kind experience and we’re happy to have it back on the calendar! Find us in the land of Fire and Ice for both July 4th and Labor Day.

Guatemala! Our newest destination for 2025 sold out quickly. We only had 4 spots left across our original trips for 2025, so we added a new date! November 15-20 we’ll be back in Central America drinking coffee, hiking volcanoes, jetting around Lake Atitlan, and getting colonial in Antigua.

Remember the story from our Labor Day Iceland trip? Two of our solo travelers turned out to be next door neighbors? The Daily Mail wrote an article about it!

Annaliese Cunniffe and Lauren Brown live right opposite each other in an apartment complex in Washington DC, but didn't meet until they went on a trip 2,800 miles away to Iceland.

Both Vicky and Vassia have been with us since the beginning of Here and Now, and both are the soul of our island hopping summer trip to Greece.

⚡ Vicky (), our Greek lighting bolt, is personality personified. When we first met Vicky she sat down with us for coffee, broke out her backpack, pulled out a box and unveiled a myriad of Greek sweets for us to taste (smart!). Hospitality is woven into her being and on display every moment you are in her presence. If there’s a will, there’s a way, and Vicky ALWAYS finds a way. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious and she provides all the energy you need for our jaunt around the islands.

🍷 Vassia ( ), our resident foodie, hobbyist sommelier, and “queen of the ‘rings” (phenomenal earrings ALWAYS) will have you eating, sipping and vibing the entire trip. Tourism is in her blood as her dad operated a travel agency in Greece during her childhood. All those years of learning paid off, because it’s like she was born to do this. Her quick wit, refined palate, and determination to cater to all her travelers sets her apart. She’s like the Greek big sister you never knew you needed!

The word that comes to mind for this 8 days experience is Cozy. Cozy pubs, cozy inns, cozy greetings, cozy food. I don’t know how else to explain it...it just leaves you feeling warm and refreshed! The sights, sounds, and tastes stay with you, but that feeling is what really sticks long after you leave.

Would you travel across the world to meet your next door neighbor? Sounds far-fetched, but it happened on one of our Iceland trips this summer!

and .cunniffe, two solo travelers from the DC area who didn’t know each other, found out they had the same departing flight to Reykjavik. They coordinated to meet at their gate to introduce themselves. After the typical get to know you questions, they learned they lived at the same apartment complex and even on the same floor — small world!

After spending six days in Iceland with our group, they made their way back to DC. Upon arriving back at their apartment, they wanted to see exactly where each other lived.

Come to find out, they lived across the hall from each other.

Like, open your door and see into the other's apartment close (see 2nd picture above) 😲 and they had lived there for two years!

"It's such a small world...who knew I'd have to fly around the world to meet my neighbor? I’m so excited I did. We had our first neighbor movie night last night and are already making plans for the next." - .cunniffe

This is HIGH on the list of coolest stories to come from Here and Now and an example of why we started H&NT in the first place!

Life gets so hectic. 40+ hours a week at work, friend and family commitments, working out, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning and the list goes on and on. All of it piles up and either pushes meeting your neighbors so far down your priorities that it doesn't happen or you simply just don't have enough capacity left at the end of the day to make it happen.

That's where travel comes into play: Removing you from the whirlwind of your everyday life, slowing you down, and allowing you to connect with others (maybe even your neighbor!) IRL. Big thanks to Lauren and Annaliese for sharing this story with us!

SUMMER 2024, WE’LL MISS YOU 🥰 You were a real one. By our official count, we saw:
→ 16 groups
→ 200+ travelers
→ 68 sunburns
→ 70 questions about European hotel room electricity not remaining on while out of the room (IYKYK 😂).

What a season! Whether you island hopped in Greece, traveled with mom to Costa Rica, or escaped the heat to Iceland, thanks for spending your precious summer time with us!

May-August are always a busy few months for us. If you’re interested in hitting the high season with us in 2025, make sure to check out our travel calendar and book your spot sooner rather than later. (Reminder! Next summer we’ve got a brand new trip to Ireland 🇮🇪)

Pro tip: Deposits are only 20% of the total trip cost and extremely flexible. If something comes up, you can always move your deposit to another trip, or maintain it as a credit with us for future use if you change plans at least 30 days out from your trip.

BIG BUCKET LIST TRIP → Northern Lights ✨ Our Founder Alex shares what makes it so unmissable:

“If you’re like me, you love taking trips with a specific purpose. To hike a big mountain, to try a certain food, to go to a specific festival, or to catch a special concert. I love having a goal for each trip and building an itinerary around it.

Apparently, a lot of you are like me! A big reason why our Northern Lights trip has been so popular is that everyone joins with the shared goal of seeing the aurora. It feels like an expedition as we hunt the lights.

We don’t know when, where or if we’ll see them, and that’s what makes the chase so exciting. Everyone gathers each night, hoping to check an item off their bucket list, watching the sky intently wishing for some magic.

If you’re lucky enough, the clouds part and lights dance across the dark sky. Cheers, high fives, and pictures all around. Goal accomplished. It’s a thrill, and something I would encourage everyone to pursue at least once in their lives!”

Cuba = TRAVEL. All caps. Our trips to Cuba are definitely our most unique. We think this is a trip that every US citizen should take in their lifetime — it’s eye opening and a lesson in history about both Cuba and the United States.

For Americans, traveling to this island wrapped in curiosity is a true cultural experience. This is a trip for learning, asking questions, and understanding how Cuba came to be, and what it can be in the future!

But it’s also super fun. For any of our Cuba travelers, you’ve experienced firsthand its unbelievable natural beauty, vibrant and warm people, picturesque landscapes, architecture, and plenty of sun... while also experiencing somewhere that, in many respects, froze in 1959.

The mojitos, ci**rs, salsa dancing and classic cars are not so bad either!
