That is my motivation. That's what I want to do for you. So here I am about to do something which I find difficult; writing something about myself. As I look back over my working life, I have noticed that all the jobs, which are pretty diverse, all have a few things in common. I trained and worked as a Commercial lawyer for 10 years, then changed career to be a kite surfing instructor with 2 kite
schools, then hotel management, running a vegan restaurant, substitute teacher for elementary and high school, and finally teaching a “How to start a business” course to adult education and living in a Natives reserve in Northern Quebec. So, have you spotted the common theme?? I will tell you. They're all centered around helping and advising other people. Sounds super cheesy but it’s true. As a lawyer, it was the thrill of the deal; making sure my client was safe and understood my advice. Running a kite school, the biggest buzz was seeing someone who had conquered their fears and succeeded in riding away on a board and screaming in sheer delight. Running a hotel and restaurant was about delivering a great package and service. As substitute teacher, it is stepping in on a moments’ notice and shaping children’s lives and futures. Finally, as an adult education teacher, motivating and inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs in a Cree community. In my own personal life, I have dealt, beaten and survived the Big C which struck me in 2014. Why talk about fear? Well, it is the elephant in the room. Everyone has at sometimes felt fear, been controlled by it, and dealt or is dealing with it in their own way. In today’s society, you can’t get away from fear; it is in the news, all over the media and in people’s perceptions. I have had fear most of my life like most people. I suspect my story is no different to millions of other fear warriors out there. I have however made the conscious effort to break free and redefine my fear through my various experiences of leaving a secure job, losing my business, moving countries, living with illness along with the normal day to day struggles. I was always worried before that I was too young and wouldn’t be taken seriously if I offered help. Now it feels right and a natural progression to try and help people on a larger scale with my own experiences, fears and advice. Buckle up ladies and gentlemen, bring me the horizon. With that in mind, my idea or mission statement is to share and pass on my advice from my mistakes and experiences with the hope that someone can benefit from these. If you're currently caught up in the rough seas of fear, then fear not, you have found your safe port in the storm.
