Law enforcement officers from Great Smoky Mountains National Park and other local law enforcement agencies will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the park on Friday, December 20, on the Gatlinburg Bypass. The purpose of this sobriety checkpoint is to deter impaired driving, prevent serious or fatal crashes, and increase public awareness of the consequences of driving while under the influence.

At the checkpoint, officers will check motorists for signs of alcohol and or drug impairment.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park reminds motorists to always practice safe driving habits. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, buckle up, reduce distractions, and never drive while under the influence.

“A rattlesnake bit one of my sheep in the face about a week ago. Deadliest snake that lives around here. The sheep’s face swelled up and hurt her terribly.

But the old rattlesnake didn't know the kind of blood that flows through the sheep. Anti-venom is most often made from sheep's blood. The sheep swelled for about 2 days but the blood of the lamb destroyed the venom of the serpent.

I was worried but the sheep didn't care. She kept on eating, kept on drinking and kept on climbing because she knew she was alright.

Often the serpents of this life will reach out and bite us. They inject their poison into us but they cannot overcome the Blood of the Lamb of God that washes away the sin of the world and the sting of death. Don't worry about the serpent or his bite, just make sure that the Lamb's Blood is flowing through your veins.”

Bright green meteor and it's reflection in a small mountain lake surrounded by forest. Click/tap so you can see the whole thing including the reflection. I caught this one on an amazing astro adventure in early July this year. I was so excited when I saw the meteor and realized that I might have even caught the reflection in the calm water. I posted up a quick version of the picture a couple days after I took it, but I think I've finally finished it to the way I like it. :) I formatted it as a vertical phone crop if anyone wants to use it as a background/lockscreen on their phone. Hope you enjoy! :)
