Custom Memories started in 2009 with the help/suggestion from my father. He told me that I should be using my artistic “talents” to start a business. After receiving my degree in Visual Communications/Graphic Design from Ohio Dominican University in 2004, I struggled to find a job in the field for years (Design positions/internships are very hard to find in central Ohio). Some time after college I
discovered my passion for Digital Photography when I had the opportunity to go on a photo shoot with a photographer I knew. This was the first time I ever used/heard of DSLR cameras and I became obsessed with them (I knew I had to have/get one). Shortly after this I got my first DSLR camera and began to teach myself the basics of Digital Photography. (mostly trial and error) I had taught myself how to use a DSLR camera. During my extensive college experience, I found a job as a Custom Picture Framer. I worked for quite some time as a Custom Framer and I received my certification in 2001. In working so many different jobs for so long and finding myself not getting any real advancements in any job, I decided that it was time to combine all of my talents into one to create a business. Graphic Design, Custom Picture Framing and Digital Photography.
