Himalaya is abode to various plants with medicinal use. Rhododendron arboreum tree from the valley of Himalayas known for its bright scarlet red bell shaped flowers filled with sweet nectar, is one such tree with medicinal uses. Flowers and leaves of this tree have been long for medicinal purposes. Commonly known as Burans, juice made from its flowers is very popular beverage in the region.

The tree is found in Himalayan hills ranging in India, Bhutan and Nepal. It has also flourished in Nilgiri hills of South India. It is also found in mountains of Sri Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar. A national flower of Nepal, Rhododendron arboreum is also the state tree of hilly states of Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh in India.

Dayara Bugyal is often debated among trekkers to be the most beautiful high altitude meadow in India and the best way to find out the truth would be to trek through it yourself. Surrounded by mighty Bandarpoonch, Bhagirathi and Black Peaks, the beauty of Dayara Bugyal as true alpine Himalayan meadows multiplies beyond imagination. For hundreds of years, shepherds have taken their cattle to Dayara when the place is blooming with beds of grass and flowers that make it look like a place that one can only imagine in their dreams. The trek is easy and starts from Barsu, a small village 32 kilometers from Uttarkashi on the Gangotri highway.

The trek begins at Joshimath and takes us through lush alpine forests and green meadows of Garson. You can even sight rare himalayan wildlife during this trek. The greatest part about walking the Curzon's trail is that you can see the Greater Himalayas from the first day. The Kuari pass journey brings you close enough to witness the Kamet, Dronagiri, Trishul, Bertholi, Hathi Ghoda Parvat, Mana and Neelkanth peaks. You will be walking through oak forests with meadow clearings every now and then. The breathtaking beauty along with the challenges makes this trek the greatest journey you can choose to make. .
