Last week, I ventured down to Devon, exploring Salcombe and Hope Cove. It was the first week I’ve taken off since February and it felt amazing to get away. I had forgotten just how much I had missed the ocean and exploring new places.

Even though it was just a drive away, I felt a million miles away from home. It was heavenly to walk along the dramatic coastline, breathe in the salty air, take time to watch the sunset and be with my family.

Whilst I was away, a client messaged to say that this time last year they were in the Masai Mara, which ironically is where I was meant to be last week, she said:

‘What is getting me through these difficult times are the beautiful memories and precious times we have had as a family, we are so lucky to have experienced what we have done on our travels with you.’

Travel, whether closer to home or further afield, really does have the power to revive and connect us.

What a weird summer! Not only has it flown by but it wasn’t exactly ‘normal’, was it?! I think back to April, when we were all confined to our homes and am so grateful that it was possible to explore certain countries once again.

My wanderlust was at an all time high and I was desperate to escape, to dip my toes in the ocean or to breathe in fresh mountain air, even if just for a few days. There is something so grounding about being surrounded by nature, and I couldn’t have been happier to head to the Austrian Alps last month.

What the last six months has taught me is that everything can change, and quickly, so it’s important to make the most of what you’re doing. I spent just 72 hours at the beautiful **h . They had a summer pop-up for the first time this year which was heaven.

I spent three days taking in the beautiful mountain vistas, hiking, biking, eating delicious food and savouring the sundowners. To see more, have a click through my stories.

Thank you so much **h and for such an incredible stay and for getting me away this summer. It was exactly what I needed to kickstart me into September and to start dreaming of future trips once again.

The very definition of ‘travel’ is ‘to take a journey’. We’re certainly on a journey right now within the travel industry, it’s one of uncertainty and a lot of change.

Whilst change can be unnerving, painful and challenging, it can also bring with it opportunity. I hope as we emerge from these difficult days, we choose the opportunity to travel better and make better choices to better impact the world we call home and its people. This is the very reason why was founded.

I am so grateful to the wonderful and inspiring whose featured the foundation and some of our incredible sustainability heroes in this months

These trips showcase that epic travel experiences can come hand-in-hand with making a positive impact.

Today is 🌎. I wanted to give a little shout out to the deep blue and delve into some really interesting facts about our blue planet.

With so much of the Earth’s surface taken up by ocean, it’s evident how vital these marine environments are to the planet. In fact, it’s thought that about 70% of the oxygen we breathe is produced by the oceans.

As so much of the Earth’s surface is underwater, it comes as no surprise that marine species outnumber those on land. But, it’s an incredible 94 per cent of the Earth’s living species that exist within these incredible oceans.

Only 5% of the oceans have been explored, there is still so much to learn and to discover.

Let’s protect it, after all, it’s a lung for the planet we call home.

It always amazes me just how quickly we adapt as human beings and it’s so inspiring.

I have been so impressed with the creativity shown during this pandemic. In a world where social distancing is the new normal and physical ‘meet-ups’ are not on the immediate horizon, we seem to have created an incredible new way to socialise and stay connected with one another.

Like me, I am sure you have been enjoying a diary full of Zoom ‘meet-ups’, from business meetings, birthday parties, family celebrations, gym classes through to virtual holidays (yes, I really did this). These virtual ‘meet-ups’ show us just how much we value relationships and connection in our lives.

When we are able to travel again and break free, even if this is to see a friend down the road, or a little further afield, I know we will all take the time to treasure who we are able to see and where we are able to go. In fact, we might start to feel a little like explorers, stepping out and discovering a big wide world - one we perhaps didn’t truly see before.

So, in the spirit of exploration, I’ve spent some time redesigning my website in the hope that it will ignite imagination for journeys to come.

Yesterday marked an important day. It was the 50th celebration of . For me, the meaning and purpose of has never been so important. Planet Earth is arguably taking a breather and gets to be the ‘temporary’ winner whilst the human race battles to cope with a new reality.
I spent some time thinking about Nature and what this pandemic could teach us about future travel. I came to the conclusion that we must all try to become more ‘conscious’ and ‘responsible’ travellers.
This doesn’t mean sacrificing your creature comforts (some of the worlds best properties are leading the way in sustainability - North Island, The Brando, Sol Y Luna, Awasi, Miavana, Singita ... a few of the big names doing just that).
Right now, global emissions are decreasing with reduced transport the world over. Our rivers, our jungles and our oceans are getting a break. This is great but what happens when we all emerge from this and we return to ‘normal’?
Choices. When we make the right choices, we can each positively impact the destination we visit. By booking with the right company, the right hotel/lodge, the right guides and even airlines, you can actively support the 4 C’s (a sustainable framework launched by ):
- Conservation
- Community
- Culture
- Commerce
Let’s celebrate the 50th anniversary of by taking a moment to think about how we can each be better global citizens and how we can tread lighter on the planet. Many of us are eager to explore and break free from lockdown, but when we do, let’s make a choice to do it more purposefully, and positively impact where we go.
After all, we are all in this together.

Back in November, I was on a trip of a lifetime in Raja Ampat. If someone had said to me that in four months the world would have stopped moving and we would be in the midst of a pandemic, I would have had a hard time believing them! I’ve been adjusting to this new way of life and looking back at various trips. Being unable to travel has made me even more grateful to have experienced and seen such incredible places. This photo made me laugh, who knew we were putting into place effective social distancing (whilst paddle boarding) in one of the worlds last undiscovered paradises. I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe. Have a great weekend, Katie x

Isolation Inspiration

It is so important to stay positive during this very difficult time. To ensure you're starting your day with a smile, I am going to share every morning a message/video/link or stories from hotels and guides around the world also in isolation.

It’s fair to say the last week (well, two) have been rather unprecedented for everyone and I wanted to reach out to my clients, friends and travel industry to share a little bit of love.

We have seen a COMPLETE change (WORLD OVER) and many of us are feeling unsure, anxious and scared for the future of our businesses/our families/our health/our countries/the economy/if we can handle isolation/weddings and events being cancelled and I could go on...

Although I tick all of the above and am working hard to calm myself down, I wanted to end (what has been one of the hardest weeks for most people) with some positivity. My god, we need some! After all, it’s International Day of Happiness!

Since the lockdowns in China and Italy, the air pollution has dramatically decreased over both countries. Clear water has returned to Venice, there has even been dolphins entering the canals! There’s also been a report that says there has been a significant decrease in harmful emissions. Communities have come together and worked hard to support one another with so many tales of kindness. There could be something we could learn from this pandemic.

My hope is that everything returns back to normal and ASAP. But perhaps we will come out of this the other side a little more thoughtful, (talented... we have time to learn many new skills), more community focussed and grateful to be able to explore the world once more.

Until then, look after yourselves.

A Story of Kindness

Today, through well established and trusted relationships, the travel industry were able to do more than two governments to ensure someone’s safety.

In a world currently covered by a Corona-Cloud, I wanted to shed some much needed light on the importance of the travel industry and the relationships we build to make it so successful.

I would like to thank those involved (you know who you are). I would also like to point out these wonderful people who helped had no reason to do so because this was not their booking nor their client. They did this because they wanted to right a wrong and keep someone safe.

Thank you 🙏🏼

TRAVEL ADVICE

I know right now everyone is confused and unsure about so many things, especially what to do about their future travel plans.

Although I’m already in touch with my wonderful clients, I wanted to offer friendly advice to anyone who is unsure and is in need of some help.

Right now, it’s impossible to get through to airlines and hotels. Let me know if you need anything and I will do my best to answer.

Please know everything is changing quickly, but I will do my best.

I’m saying goodbye to the snow for the last time this season. What a great trip to Finnish Lapland, a beautiful winter wonderland and adventure playground with so much to do. Go snowmobiling through national parks and forests, try your hand at being a musha for the morning and control your very own own dog sleigh. Or, relax and take in the beautiful forest views from a reindeer sleigh which travels at a much slower pace. You can venture onto frozen lakes and go ice fishing along with hunting for the northern lights whilst learning how to survive in the harsh conditions of the Arctic circle by building an igloo. For something really unique, I can arrange for you to meet a Sami Shaman to learn about animism and their ancient belief systems.

Beautiful blues in L**h and Zurs today. I couldn’t love this ski area more. Both L**h and Zurs are part of the Arlberg region which is the largest ski area in Austria and one of the five largest in the world. The Run of Fame ski circuit extends throughout the entire area (Including L**h, Zurs and St Anton) which is one of the highlights about a stay here. Personally, I’m more into skiing half the route and having more coffee stops. There are lots of lovely little cafes and restaurants enroute for some much needed gluwein 🍷 **h

Some clients just checked into Six Senses Yao Noi and have said ‘Omg the view is stunning. I wanted to cry when I walked into the room! I don’t think you could top this anywhere!’.... I couldn’t agree more. This incredible property is on the island of Koh Yao Noi, east of Phuket, and has stunning views over Phang Nga Bay. My clients are staying in the Panoramic View Rooms which are one of my favourite rooms in the world. Waking up to this view every morning is so magical.

I could do with some of this right now! I loved the colours of the Seychelles. The beaches are so dramatic with soft white sand, turquoise waters and the iconic boulders with lush vegetation for a backdrop. This is part of the beach on the island of Praslin. Due to changing currents, many of the beaches in the Seychelles move throughout the year but this little beach is protected by its neighbouring island. For a year round idyllic beach and great swimming - this is a lovely option.

The Chedi Andermatt... Home for the next few days and I couldn’t love it more. Tucked away in the town of Andermatt, Switzerland, this gem of a hotel offers so much. It has the best spa I’ve EVER seen, the rooms are stunning and vast, the service is superb and from the moment you walk in you’re relaxed. They have their own ice skating rink, the ski area goes on forever and they even have an Apres Ski Train (yes, you heard me right). Whilst being super slick and spoiling, they are also very eco conscious which makes this even better in my opinion. and thank you for having me. I’m blown away!

It’s been nearly a year since my last trip to New Zealand. I just can’t get enough of this country! I’m often asked ‘if you could only ever go to one country for the rest of your life, where would it be?’... Answer = New Zealand. This country has it all, dramatic mountains, lakes, rolling green hills, incredible food and wine, amazing wildlife, beaches, fascinating history, epic guides and much more. You can travel any time of the year, taking advantage of the winter and summer sports. It’s home to some of my all time favourite hotels and lodges and it over delivers at every opportunity. New Zealand, you’re magic. Thank you so much for arranging my last visit.

There’s nothing quite like a last minute trip... I’m off to my absolute bucket list destination, Raja Ampat and next week! With over 1,000 islands, Raja Ampat translates to Four Kings with four main islands. Raja Ampat is one of the truly most beautiful places on Earth. Home to a a vast array of the earths coral, with abundant marine life, mangroves, jungles to explore, numerous beaches, ancient rock art, bird life and much more. I am so excited to go there and checkout where I will be living on a catamaran for five days. Just the 30 hour flight there and back to get through!

The Newt .... What a special place. Even with all the hype, it exceeded my expectations. A really authentic, beautiful and charming property with the most magical gardens to match. Be sure to ask for a garden tour with Arthur, he is brilliant and brought the Apple Maze to life, he is also one of the best characters I’ve ever met at a hotel. It is important to know that every room here is different, so it’s important to book the right room for you. I can’t wait to go back and send my lovely clients! Thank you and
