Arrived In Sydney safely last stop to Brisbane ✈️🙏🏡

Last time we sat in this lounge was March 2020 and it was a different sight to see with everything shutting down with Covid 😥😥
I’m happy to report things are returning to normal here even with some improvements.
Our Asian adventure is over and we are on our way home 🏡 Even managed a last minute sneaky foot massage 🙏 All ready to depart and our ride has just pulled up 🛬✈️ excited to go home and hug our babies missing them all especially at this time of year. Time to get home and get the decorations up we are running late 🎄🎅🏻🎁

Our last day in Bangkok so we took a trip to see the sights of Chinatown 🥡🥢A late lunch before some final purchases 🛍️🤷‍♀️

Our past couple of days in Bangkok have mostly consisted of shopping 🛍️ and eating 🥢🤣Some great bargains and like most of Asia some very upmarket stores (just looking thanks🤣)

The rain cleared today so we grabbed a driver and headed a little over an hour away to Patong for a look around. Haven’t been there in years. Busy busy with tourists had a nice lunch and a foot massage. It was a nice day 🇹🇭 🏖️🛺

We have had a lovely couple of days albeit a little hotel / resort bound by the rain. Cant complain we have had amazing weather up until now. Yesterdays rain was light so we had a little walk about and last night no rain so we got a dinner on the beach. Thailand is also celebrating Krathong which was also celebrated last night in the hotel. We didnt go to the dinner but it looked wonderful.

Our home for the next 6 nights. Our fist day exploring the resort it is huge. We haven’t found everything yet but working on it 🏨🌊🍹Also some good looking beach bars and restaurants right on our own little beach 🏖️

We are departing Cambodia and headed to Thailand 🇹🇭
There is a brand new airport only been open a month in Siem Reap. A great facility now all they need are some passengers. Only flight departing and it’s soooooo quiet ✈️✈️

Day 3 and our final day in Siem Reap. It was quite relaxing as the tour was finished we had a free day. We just had a wander along the river where they are setting up for the water festival and then through the local streets and markets. We depart tomorrow for Thailand for the remainder of our Asian Adventure.

Our Travelmarvel tour has now come to an end and tonight we share in a farewell dinner. It has been a great trip and Travelmarvel have been well organised and very helpful. Our tour director Mr Tu has been awesome and will highly recommend him. Thanks for a great time ⛴️🚌🛺🛕🇻🇳🇰🇭🥢

Our final stop is Angkor Wat meaning City Temple. Angkor Wat, built in the early twelfth century, served as a monument to a powerful king, Suryavarman II, and also as his tomb. Its beautifully carved bas relieves depict scenes from the Indian epic, the Ramayana and from Suryavarman's life. While most temples in this region face east, Angkor Wat faces West. This is to do with the temple's original link to Hinduism. Angkor Wat is located on a site measuring 162.6 hectares. The Guinness World Records considers it as the largest religious structure in the world.

Our first temple for the afternoon was Bayon Temple 🛕 Bayon Temple is important for many reasons. It served as the first and only Buddhist temple constructed by the Angkor (Khmer) Empire. The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces of The Buddha.

Day 2 in Siem Reap. After breakfast we grabbed a Tuk Tuk and did a tour around the city to gain our bearings. Off to the bank for the return of a couple of ATM cards that had been swallowed up in Phnom Penh 😲 (thats a good story) Back for a refresh before our afternoon adventures exploring the Temples.

After we had settled into the hotel it was back on the buses and off for our afternoon tours. Our first stop was at the ODA School (Opportunities of Development through Art). The school has 34 permanent students who live at the school as they are in most cases orphaned. We watched a lovely dance and then the students chatted with us to practice their English. The girl we spoke to was 17 and been there since she was 1 year old. She is finishing year 12 and will then stay there for another 4 years to become an accountant 🙏🙏 we have photos but were asked not to put them on social media ❤️
After our visit to the school we visited our first Temple with our 3 day Angkor Experience pass. We went to Ta Prohm Temple which was amazing and where the movie Tomb Raider was filmed 🎥🎬

After a 5 1/2 hour bus ride (and a couple of stops at the “happy room”) we have arrived in Siem Reap our home here for the next 3 nights. It’s a lovely hotel I am sure we will enjoy our stay 🙏❤️

This morning we departed AMA Lotus after our cruise up the Mekong River through Vietnam & Cambodia. We had a great time and thank all the staff for their service and friendliness they were a great crew and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the experience 🙏⛴️❤️
Next stop is Siem Reap 🛕

After our morning adventure we have travelled to our final port of Kampong Cham. We disembarked for a Tuk Tuk ride to Koh Pen Island for another look into local life in Cambodia. We Will dock here until we disembark tomorrow morning and travel on a 5 hour bus ride to Siem Reap which will be a highlight to the end of our trip in Cambodia 🇰🇭🙏❤️

This morning was an easy walk off the ship and straight into one of the very few villages not destroyed during the Khmer Rouge Regime 🙏
Under the rule of Khmer Rouge, Angkor Ban was chosen to be their billet. The buildings in this village were used as housing and storage. Thus, while almost all infrastructures in Cambodia were destroyed, the wooden houses in this village still exist today. It seems that there's no village in Cambodia remaining the testament to the long history of Cambodian as Angkor Ban.
We saw some of the traditional wooden stilt homes and observed the lives of the local people. We then continue up river to our final stop this afternoon ⛴️⛴️

This morning we left Phnom Penh and made our way further up the river to the very small village of Oknhatey and visited Silk Island where we watched traditional silk weaving. It was back to the ship for a full afternoon of cruising on the river very relaxing on our way to Angkor Ban.

After lunch it was a bit more fun around Phnom Penh and another trip with Mr Vann on his Tuk Tuk 🛺 After dinner it was Trvia where our team came spectacularly last 🤷‍♀️ They then made us sing Karaoke as our punishment but it appeared some saw this as a reward. We won a bottle of wine also so all worth the effort. I promised I wouldn’t post all the photos 🤣🤣

After our visit to the silverware workshops we took a drive to Oudong where we visited a monastery for a Buddhist blessing by the monks which was quite lovely 🙏

Our second day in Phonm Pehn Cambodia and we boarded our buses early to visit the little village of Koh Chen. We visited some home workshops that manufacture copper and silverware. We bought some trinkets to support the education of the children then our Tuk Tuk drivers then returned us to the buses for further adventures 🛺🚌 🇰🇭

Before dinner we were treated to some local entertainment by some young people displaying their traditional dancing 🙏❤️

After lunch we did a Tuk Tuk 🛺 Tour of Phnom Penh including a visit to the huge marketplace. We had a great driver showing us some sights in the city.

Yesterday we had a full day in Phnom Penh including an overnight stay. The city is bigger than we expected with a lot of new construction. Our morning was a visit to The Killing Feilds and The Genocide Museum. Both were a sad and solemn visit learning the history of this time for the people of Cambodia.

As we prepare for our border crossing we wait in the queue 🙏🙏 This can be a lengthy experience depending on the day and mood of the authorities. Let’s hope we can cross soon 🙏❤️🇻🇳🇰🇭

After our visit with the farming families and local life we take a local fun rickshaw ride to visit to a rattan weaving workshop followed by a silk weaving workshop with a return ride to our San pan to return to the ship. We have now completed our Vietnam experience as we prepare to cross the border to Cambodia. We have loved our local guide Mr Thinh for the Green Group he was a fabulous guide and a lot of fun 🙏🇻🇳

This morning we are in Tan Chau. We Cruise aboard our San Pan down the tiny tributaries around the town of Tan Chau. Pass floating fish farms, then step back in time as we experience authentic rural Mekong life on a nearby Evergreen Island. The farming families are wonderful and although rustic and appearing poor everything is clean and tidy and as always the people are lovely and happy with their
life 🙏❤️ We see their local community coffee shop which is usually busy between 5am - 6am and a local family home 🙏🙏

After lunch it was back in the San Pan for another ride down the river and a real look into local life which was a bit confronting and makes you appreciate our life at home. We visited the local markets ( I liked the veggies better than the seafood and meat )just before it got really busy with locals coming through to purchase their ingredients for dinner. They all come by bike 🚲 🛵 and there was plenty of them. And who knew frogs are called jumping chickens 🤷‍♀️
After the market we visited the home of Mr. Huynh Thy Le, the inspiration of Marguerite Duras' novel, L'Amant (The Lover) before stepping inside a traditional Cao Dai temple.

This morning we boarded our San Pan for our first excursion of the day in Cai Be. Our journey took us along the waterway of the riverside town where we saw the French Cathedral. We then visited a traditional rice factory which was interesting. They produce Rice Paper, Rice wine, popped rice and traditional candies. An enjoyable morning seeing an authentic way of life with our great guide Mr Thinh 🙏🍚❤️
After a hot morning a swim and lunch was required 🥵

Today we have left the hustle and bustle of the big city of Ho Chi Minh to board our Mekong River Cruise aboard the RV AMA Lotus our home for 7 nights through Vietnam and Cambodia ⛴️🍹🍺🥢🇻🇳🇰🇭
