Here are the new catch and possession limits for walleye on Lake of the Woods, effective January 1. Make note of changes to the sizes allowed for the upcoming season.

This was released by Ontario MNR today and is effective January 1, 2024.

We said goodbye to our final guests of the season and are working on preparing the island for winter, hard to believe the 2023 season flew by so fast!

After a tough few years of border restrictions and flooding, we were thrilled to welcome back many returning guests we hadn’t gotten to see in too long, and got to meet some new ones who we look forward to seeing again.

The sun may have set on this season, but we still have some 2023 summer memories to share to keep you counting the days until spring 2024, stay tuned!

We love when King Island gets to be a special place for families to gather. Celebrating 7 birthdays and an anniversary, it was so great to see this group again and watch the kids make memories on the lake!

We had some beautiful days to finish off May! May weather is famously unpredictable and this was hotter than we’re used to. So happy to have last year’s flooding behind us and the docks ready to go again, as you can see the back dock is looking great!

Another throwback to last summer while we wait for our latest dump of snow to melt. Northern Pike don’t typically get as many photo ops as some other species, but as you can see they can be a lot of fun to get in the boat!

Getting tired of winter like we are? We’re starting to dream about open water and warmer days like this one, when we took Kendal out for her first taste of fishing. We must have had her beginner’s luck in the boat!

Adrian caught and released this 27" walleye while we were out enjoying some lake time.

The first half of June brought a lot of big fish and good times. Though the high water levels have been a struggle, we're thrilled to see the fish biting and these smiles on our guests' faces!

King Island's address is: Island G1958, Township of Lake of the Woods, P0X 1K0 (NOTE: postal code is letter-number-letter, number-letter-number; the 0 is a zero). There is a box in the form to fill in the island number which will not appear in the drop down selections.

- NO bait can come across the border, this is new compared to a few years ago.

- Currently, due to avian flu, no raw poultry or poultry products including eggs

Happy opening day of walleye season! Adrian released this lunker last summer for you to find on your next visit.

We're so excited to welcome guests back for a semi-normal opening of the season this year and to show off some dock and cabin improvements we've been working on. This spring is not without its challenges though, water levels are extremely high. If you're familiar with Jenkins Point, you'll see what we mean.
