the auroras are indescribable—they change so quickly and never look the same. Mesmerizing, dancing, sometimes bright & sometimes all you can see is a cloud that hints that something may be coming soon.
Disclaimer: When we went on our first aurora hunting experience, our guide motioned to a cloud in the sky and said there was an aurora there. To my eyes, all I saw was a cloud in the sky that had the slightest green tint to it, but as soon as you took a picture, a vivid green appeared. As the auroras changed, the color became more obvious to the naked eye. I’ve noticed that people who have a lot more experience with seeing auroras can see reds and greens easily with their eyes, but to me it took a little more concentration. Once an aurora became a tiny bit brighter, you could start to see them dance and then it was obvious and so so beautiful.
For example, photos 1, 2, 3 and 5 will be visible with the naked eye but 4 may just appear as a cloudy streak in the sky.
