Over the past two weeks, we’ve been quite busy. We embarked on a cruise to the Åland Islands, reconnected with old friends, and forged new friendships. In Mariehamn, we once again witnessed the majestic Tall Ships, an experience distinct from our time in Turku. The entire island was abuzz with excitement during the event. Although we didn’t secure a berth for Sweet Hope, our anchoring spot on the opposite side of the ÅSS Marina proved excellent—a prime location to watch the Tall Ships depart from the city of Mariehamn. After the Tall Ships left we did got a berth for Sweet Hope.

The Tall Ship Race 2024 took place in Turku last weekend. This race occurs every fourth year. So far, it has made stops in two different Finnish cities: Helsinki and Turku. The next stop will be in Mariehamn, Åland, which is also part of Finland. Over 60 sailing vessels are part of this gathering. Yesterday, as the vessels left Turku, they had a parade of sails in Airisto.

Here are a few pictures from our stay on Biskopsön Bay. We hiked 6 km on the island and discovered its diverse landscapes. Despite its remoteness, the island has a rich history and a small number of permanent residents. A local ferryboat only visits the island once a week.

Finally, we found new cortesy lights that are a drop in fit into the old holes of the original IMTRA lights. Mika has now changed all our outside cortesy light's. What a difference it made. These new German made EB04 lights are stainless steel, look very nice, and the light is just fabulous. These lights will be used more than the old ones, that's for sure.

It has been a while since we have posted anything. We have been very busy for the last two weeks.
Spent some time on an island Byxholmen, it belongs to .fi. There is a sauna which you warm up by yourself and it's free of charge. This place is quite popular among boaters.
Here we made our first ever anchor out with stern tied to pine trees and hooks, all accomplished by just two of us. It took some planing before we even could start thinking about it. One need good weather, sounding with RIB, taking lines out before hand, after that you are half way there.
Sweet Hope has now a new port of registry. New stickers are already fixed on astern. The sticker says Espoo Finland.
Some strawberries are also frozen for the winter. And
also gave me a nice ride to work few times.
Now we are on the move again. Slowly heading towards Turku, not in the hurry, we are on vacation.

Happy Mid Summer to everybody!
We celebrate it here in Byxholmen, which is a small island outskirts of Tammisaari. The island is one of .fi locations. Free for everybody. There is also a very good sauna.

Back in Tammisaari. Made a few stops on our way to Tammisaari from Marirhamn. First stop was in Trunsö where we have not been before. Trunsö is an old fishing village, that nowadays have a small harbour for leasure boaters.
Second stop was in Rosala. This harbour we have been before with our old boat. Very nice and authentic place to stop.

What a journey we had to Tallinn Estonia. Very nice four days with sunshine every day.
Met lovely people,had a good food, very nice local beers and enjoyed the city.
The long weekend ended here in Espoo with 17 km bicycle ride and getting parcel from Black Forest Ropes Germany, Liros 8mm Dyneema.
Now we are anchored out first time time this season. No other boats near us. Just the nature and silence.

Earlier today we departed Tammisaari. Sweet Hope is on her way to Tallinn Estonia. m/s Alpo is on her way to Mariehamn Åland which is her next stop. Alpo is heading towards Normandy 80th anniversary.

After 441Nm two days 12 hours and 55 minutes we arrived to Hanko. The weather is much colder than it was in Sweden and Denmark. At least it is not raining or snowing.

We spent the day at Falsterbokanalen, Skanör and Höllviken. We had a visitors from the Swedish Coast Guard, they gave us a new mascot. Look how nice she sits on the pilothouse dashboard corner! Tomorrow we are heading towards Hanko, looks like we might take it all the way non-stop 440 Nm, because weather looks now favorable.

Soft shackles for summer.

Finally all the rope boxes and cover has arrived. That is 300 meters handy-elastic 20 mm black rope and 50 meters of cover.
Handy-elastic rope has >20% working stretch and breaking strenght for 20 mm rope is 9900 daN. Only thing left now is splicing all this.

Last year at this time we already planning our trip home. We left Karlskrona 11th of March and arrived to Hanko 25th of March. This year it is not going to be like that. Hanko is still covered with solid ice. It looks like it will be some time in April we will be in Finland.

We recently acquired new kitchen appliances from . Our upgraded kitchen now boasts a brand-new oven, microwave, hob, and range hood. Initially, we had ordered everything to be professionally installed, but as luck would have it, only the oven was set up for us. This left us with the task of installing the range hood and microwave ourselves. It wasn’t a walk in the park! However, the experience turned into a lovely bonding moment for us as a couple 💞 while we tackled the installation.
The new hob needed an extension cut in our natural stone countertop. For finding a granite cut firm in Copenhagen, we got help from a boat neighbors here in . They found a company called Surface Solutions. The company did a very good job of cutting our granite.

Today, we opened our SeaDoo season 2024. The weather was lovely, sun shine, mild breaze, little swell. The water temperature was +5 Celsius. We tooked a quick ride to visit Helsingör, the trip total was around 40NM.

Yesterday was another bumpy day at Baltic Sea. It doesn´t look bad but there was a time when it was too much for our stabilizers and we rolling very nicely. Sweet Hope can take it no problem at all. Nordhavn boats are made for rough weather.
