2018 is coming to an end, I hope all of you have had a fun filled year.
Highlights of my travels have been hugely enjoyed by my followers on instagram so will try to be more interactive with my FB crew more in 2019.
My favourite travel experience so far has to be Jordan, it is a must visit destination at least once in your life time!
I would recommend to land at Jordan Amman international, and then get an internal flight to Aqaba, to see the Red Sea. This is also close to Petra, minimum drive 1.5 hrs. I would also recommend to stay at Petra for 2 days and enjoy the caves and embrace the beauty as much as possible. Horses and carriages are available to help you explore, if hiking is not your thing, however I would suggest try hiking to enjoy your surroundings. There is a lot of climbing required to reach those “insta famous” spots where people usually tend to have their picture perfect moments, so wear boots with a good grip and comfortable clothing which will help you climb easily.
The Bedouins are very welcoming, visit their cave homes as they are very interesting, and their home made tea is to die for!
After a 2 day stop at Petra, 1.5 hrs away is Wadi Rum, I call this place “Mars on Earth” in fact the Hollywood movie Mars, starring Matt Damon was shot here. You will see two types of sand here, red and yellow which does not mix. For about 50 you will get a 2 hour cruise around the desert. You will also have the opportunity to take pictures, the driver or tour guide will become your professional photographer so take your time to enjoy playing and posing. Within the desert, there are balloon beds where you can spend the night, and admire the beauty of the night and watch the stars shine. You will see many shooting stars too. You would think it’s only perfect for honeymooners, but I saw many friend groups and travellers take advantage of this romantic spot.
Please note, Petra light show only happens on Mondays and Wednesdays.
After Wadi Rum on the same day, travel to the Dead Sea area, I would strongly suggest to book yourself into a nice resort for approx 2 days to enjoy the sun sets, Dead Sea and relax.
Then make your way towards to Madaba, which is 40 mins away from the Dead Sea area, explore the waterfalls and closer to the Airport.
You can also visit Israel, which is closer to Madaba, 25 mins journey to the borders. Please note, the Borders are closed on Mondays and reopen on Tuesday at 6am. You will be stopped once you cross the border, but don’t worry this is normal.
You can also book a tour guide who will take you around the country, but this will cost around £550 ($850 usd).
I hope this post helps you if and whenever you go to Jordan.
