Back to Rakhat al-Madrh! This small settlement just outside of Bat is helping us learn about the ancient environment of Early Bronze Age Oman and how the Umm an-Nar thrived in their arid landscape.

This Thursday, January 19, from 8:30am-12:00pm, come join us in Bat village for Community Day! We are honored to partner with and Healthy Village Bat to host a community-centered celebration of heritage and culture.

We will have arts and archaeology activities for all ages, including making heritage postcards and ceramics sculpture! Our partners will be hosting traditional activities, including omani sweets and storytelling.

Please join us if you're in the neighborhood!

Archaeological excavations at Bat for the 2023 season are well underway. This season we are continuing to focus on looking at Umm an Nar settlement patterns spread across the Bat landscape!🦺🔍

Umm an Nar translates literally to "Mother of Fire", and is used to refer broadly to the Early Bronze Age in Arabia. ☀️
