Epic day in Alaska’s Denali Park! Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet. We saw bears 🐻 and lots of incredible fall foliage while in the park. The bears are foraging for berries while fattening up before the harsh winter. Did you know bears dig out new caves each winter? They won’t risk predators catching their scent and labor to dig out their caves with their powerful claws. Today’s adventure is part of our pre-cruise trip as part of our in Alaska with on our 35th wedding anniversary vacation.

Our barge Enchanté pulling into Homps, France 🇫🇷 on the Canal du Midi. We had a delightful sailing day through the lochs. I opted to walk along the canal while the boat floated behind me. It was a glorious 4k trek, exploring the plethora of trees, flowers, and farm houses dotting the countryside landscape. It’s one of the best things about cruising this canal with - the ability to walk or bike the canal between ports.

Cruising along the Canal du Midi offers passengers like us the ability to see charming village life without stepping ashore. Or, sometimes we walk alongside the vessel while it moves. Either way, the scenery is delightful. has thought of every detail!

The gray skies are giving way to sunshine today in Paris. Yesterday took my obligatory stroll around the Luxembourg Gardens. The children were having a ball playing with the sailboats ⛵️ in the fountain. Many perched themselves on the lawn chairs soaking up the rays, while others did Thai Chi, or ran through the park. It was another banner people watching day in the City of Light. •

Another glorious day in Edinburgh, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 where the sunshine ☀️ brought out the best in an otherwise frigid day. The daffodils 🌼 are waning, but the tulips 🌷 are just now blooming. The Edinburgh Castle is beautiful from every angle.

April 14, 2019 it was Palm Sunday and my friend Christine and I arrived at Notre Dame in Paris just in time to prosess into the church for the beginning of mass. We were among the very last to be allowed in. Every seat was taken. My father had just died and I lit a candle for him in one of the side coves. I usually don’t take the church bulletin’s at the end, but I did this time. Never did I imagine within 12 hours Notre Dame would be ablaze. Today, as we Catholics participate in Palm Sunday services, try to remember the Passion of our Lord was not the end of his life, but the beginning of eternal life for us all.
Our Lady of Notre Dame still stands and I’m excited to see her open for mass soon.

Sunset’s in Antigua are a daily feast for the eyes. Anchoring, we were treated to 180 degrees of fiery glow as the sun dipped ever so gracefully below the horizon. Circumnavigating this captivating island is a sailor’s dream.

Florida Keys brown pelican hanging around our boat hoping we came back from fishing and would share a treat, but no such luck. We had a picnic in Card Sound today drifting with a light breeze, enjoying the mild temperatures.

The leaves 🍁 on the trees are still falling in Paris in the Luxembourg Gardens. It was a chilly day, with a couple of hours respite from the rain allowed me to explore some of my favorite parks. The woman on the bench had the whole place to herself and I observed her from afar sitting quietly. No cell phone, no book. Just enjoying nature in the heart of the city. Sigh… wonderful!

Today’s photo bomb brought to you by the birds by the Louvre. It’s cold here in Paris, reports of snow at Charles de Gaulle today. But it was warm enough for me to walk from the Arc de Triomphe back to the 6th without too much bother. I stopped periodically along the way to snap some shots with my iPhone. Gray skies don’t make for the best backdrop, but at least it wasn’t raining.

Say hello 👋 to my little green turtle 🐢 friends. It was quite an afternoon swimming with these cuties. No fear of us, but we did try to stay far enough away so they would feel comfortable. I’ll figure out the correct filter for the underwater phone camera case one of these days. In the meantime relax 😎 and enjoy the views from down under the surface in Key Largo.

Our son Phil is the son of a son of a sailor. He went out on the sea for an adventure…
Missing my father-in-law and today. His music has meant a lot to our family over the years. RIP to Papa Phil and Jimmy - have yourselves a rum drink and rest knowing your family and friends are still sailing the seas in your honor.
