Winter is here in full force! The taps are open and the skies are producing, with a nice top-up of fresh pow every day. There’s more falling now, more in the forecast, and that makes a pretty good formula for more sweet laps up in the hills. Our opening week before Christmas saw 83cm arrive in a week, and the skiing was predictably incredible. A full reset over the holidays set up this week’s group with an unpainted canvas once again – the Great Northern factor is in full effect! Call HQ if you’re keen to get in on the action, and we might just have a coveted seat or two left up for grabs for some prime January turns. Welcome to Great Northern – minty fresh since 1979.

Guiding small groups of powder hunters through the untracked Selkirk backcountry, since 1979.

Great Northern is the home of blow-your-mind backcountry skiing. It’s a secret hideaway located just 1.5 hours south of Revelstoke, in the Bad Shot range of the Selkirk Mountains - part of British Columbia’s famed powder triangle.

Here, you’ll find a 75 square-kilometre playground of open bowls, steep and deep trees, and wide mountain runs – which, combined with an average 50 feet of annual snowfall, makes for endless amounts of untracked terrain.

This is where powder hounds have been finding their ski stoke for decades; a home-away-from-home gathering place that has welcomed skiers back, year after year. It’s where lodge dwellers become fast friends. It’s the kind of place where the spirit of adventure begins from the road that’ll lead you to this impressive powder wilderness.
