At the age of twelve I was given a camera and a roll of film. My fascination with the technology of how it worked and the magic I could perform by pushing a button has stayed with me for years. It is responsible for my graduation from Rhode Island School of Design, my job as a photo researcher at Magnum Photos, and my long career as professor of photography at City College and Manhattanville Colle

ge. It is my passport to travel, my excuse to stare and a means of providing others with great memories. As a freelance photographer I have worked for numerous magazines including Esquire, Forbes, Fortune, and The New York Times. My work has been widely exhibited, and is included in several permanent collections including the Brooklyn Museum, The Museum of the City of New York and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, in Chicago. I was a Fulbright finalist and the recipient of the Women’s Research and Development Fund Grant from The City University of New York. I am available for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Weddings, and other happy occasions.

It’s 1:30 AM and Dodger ( my Great Dane ) is whining he wants to go out. In my half awake state of mind I think maybe there’s a deer outside and he wants to say hello, I decide I’m not getting out bed for that, the whining and pawing continue, now I am fully awake and rethink the possibility of a Great Dane accident in the house, so we head out the door. Now I see he was just trying to let me know the icicles were melting and if I didn’t get up I would miss this moonscape moment. Thanks Dodger... sorry the deer got away, but otherwise your timing was perfect. ...and for that I gave him an extra few inches to stretch his legs on my side of the bed.

While on route to my virtual Pilates class I passed through my studio and saw this on my backdrop, I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures and watching the light dance. I was late for Pilates but found this moment of mixed covid anxiety and calm.
