As taxi drivers in the state demand amenities due to issues faced while sleeping in their cars, an incident in Kodagu highlighted the need for such facilities when a driver was fortunately saved after a tree fell on his car while he was inside. In response, the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act 1971 and the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act 1998 have declared that dormitories will be provided in parking spaces for drivers to rest safely.

The Bangalore International Airport Authority (BIAAL) initially implemented a fee for pick-up lane entry at KIA International Airport, charging Rs 150 if a vehicle stayed beyond 7 minutes. This decision led to protests from car drivers, prompting the authority to revoke the fee on Tuesday. Mr Nataraj Sharma responded to the situation, stating that with 1000 vehicles picking up customers daily, it is unfair to impose such fees. He warned that if the fee is reintroduced, further protests will ensue. A billboard announcing the charges was also removed following the decision to cancel all commercial vehicles' fees.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry has invited public comments by June 11 on draft rules for microwave doppler radar equipment used to measure vehicle speeds on roads, according to a circular issued by the ministry.

The draft rules stipulate that radar equipment installed after the final rules are notified must be verified and stamped within one year.

The ministry said that existing installed equipment should also be verified and stamped whenever their re-verification becomes due.

Radar equipment already installed, whose re-verification is due or becomes due within the next year, should be verified and stamped within one year of the new rules coming into force.

The rules prescribe conditions that the radar equipment must satisfy if the speed measurement results are to be used in legal proceedings.

Delhi's government has licensed ride-hailing services Uber and Aaveg to operate under the city's premium bus service scheme.

In November, they notified the premium bus service policy under which private players have been allowed to operate airconditioned luxury public service vehicles with a seating capacity of not less than nine passengers, along with various facilities such as Wi-Fi, CCTV, panic button, 2*2, and reclining seats.

An Uber official said people would be able to book bus rides through the Uber app. "Delhi is the first state to award a licence to operate premium buses," he said.

Commuters will be able to pre-book seats up to a week in advance, follow the live location and route of the bus, and know its expected time of arrival.

The official added that Uber has been running shuttle services in Kolkata since 2023 as per a memorandum of understanding signed with the West Bengal government, and it is being tried on a pilot basis in Delhi-NCR.

Transport department will play the role of a regulator with the power to cancel the licence if the aggregators don't follow passenger safety norms and other rules.

The operators will have to operate and maintain a fleet of at least 25 premium buses to be made operational within 90 days from the day the licence is granted. The government notification states that only pre-booked digital ticketing will be permitted, and the fare will be collected only through electronic or digital mode.

The bus operators must convey the route of trips on their mobile and web-based applications and the particulars of the vehicles, drivers, and other staff. They will inform the department about the routes. "Booking of passengers from any stop shall be executed at least two minutes before the boarding time," it stated.

With his diverse background and extensive experience, Mr. Mohammed Dastagir gave highly esteemed knowledge-sharing sessions at BTTOA's 25th-anniversary celebration. With qualifications including a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (D.M.E.), a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.

Mr Dastagir began his professional journey as a Quality Control Inspector at Ideal Jawa (India) Pvt. Ltd., Mysore, from 1974 to 1978, gaining valuable insights into the manufacturing industry. Transitioning to the public sector, he joined the Transport Department of the Government of Karnataka in 1978, where he served in various capacities for over three decades until his retirement on attaining superannuation in 2014.

Post-retirement, Mr. Dastagir embarked on a new chapter in his career by enrolling as an Advocate at the Karnataka Bar Council, Bengaluru, in 2014. Specializing in motor vehicle cases, he has become a recognized authority in this field, representing clients at the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka with distinction.

With his vast experience spanning both the private and public sectors, coupled with his legal expertise, Mr. Mohammed Dastagir is a valuable resource for knowledge sharing sessions, offering valuable insights and perspectives to the audience.

The video describes awareness about a new fine introduced on 14.05.2024. It states that commercial vehicle drivers traveling from Hebbal to the airport will be charged a fine of ₹1000 if they exceed the speed limit. If the fine is not paid within 10 days, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law. The fine can be paid through Karnataka One or the KSP app.

The Bangalore Taxi Association has submitted a request to the transport authority saying that long-drive organizations without licensed vehicles attach the board car. Also, they were providing luxury taxis. It was compulsory to attach the stickers to whoever went to RTO, and FCA told them not to attach the stickers now. Even in the airport, taxi drivers were not allowed; they were allowed to go and pick up customers by charging airport parking. Copies were also sent to the airport authority.
