Enjoying seeing all of the aurora borealis pics from friends in the Pacific Northwest, Canada and the Midwest.

I almost missed it but in the end got my first sighting! Had a lovely day with my son, his wife and their new baby out at the coast. Then my daughter sent some photos of their sighting from their home in Washington so we went out to the waterfront and lo and behold!

Like many people, the colors were much better in photos taken from my camera then they were with the naked eye, but it was still visible, and the greenish tint in the sky and oddness of the cloud tipped us off exactly where it was. A real treat to end a very nice day!

I love Vienna! I visited a long long time ago and made the choice to go there instead of Rome or Venice; partly because of the art. I especially love Expressionism and of course, the music of some of the classical composers.

So take a look at some of the museum highlights. (I'd have to add one of my own that didn't make Aviv's cut though: The Secession.) But he did a great job. It's a magnificent city!

My hometown and one of my very favorite places to go as a child and throughout the years I lived there.

Today in 1893, the World's Columbian Exposition opened in Chicago's Jackson Park area. The Museum of Science and Industry is one of the remnants from it. Did you know the following were introduced at this legendary event - the Ferris Wheel, the Zipper, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Gum, the automatic dishwasher and Cracker Jack Popcorn to name a few. Admission, 50-cents.

ECLIPSE DAY! A very cloudy day here. Either way, I wasn't going to see the total eclipse.

So thought I'd share my story of the 2017 total eclipse, as seen in Oregon.

The eclipse across a swath of the U.S. on August 21, 2017 was writer Nancy Zaffaro's first chance to be in the “path of totality.” She enjoyed the hoopla.
