The REAL ID Act has officially passed, and starting May 7, 2025, all air travelers will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, passport, or another approved form of ID to board domestic flights. 🚨
🔑 What is REAL ID?
The REAL ID is a new standard for identification that enhances security at airports, federal buildings, and certain other facilities. It’s required to ensure that your ID meets new federal guidelines for safety and verification.
📜 The Changes You Need to Know:
✔️ Starting May 7, 2025, you will need a REAL ID-compliant license or a passport to board any domestic flight.
✔️ REAL IDs are marked with a gold star in the top right corner.
✔️ If you don’t have a REAL ID yet, consider upgrading your driver’s license or carrying your passport for air travel.

According to DHS.gov, “The REAL ID Act was passed by Congress to establish minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and ID cards. All states and territories are required to meet these standards to issue REAL IDs.”
