Outside of the Vortrekker Monument in Pretoria, South Africa is this sculpture. It used to be displayed in an airport and rightly so as Quo Vadis translates to "Where are you going?". I thought it was a perfect sculpture to see in the beginning days of my travels. The question "Where are you going?" can be answered or thought of in many ways. It could simply relate to a physical destination or it could be moving to a "new state" of mind, life direction or even be a question a business owner will ask themself when refreshing/overhauling the business plan. So, Quo Vadis??

Happy New Year!! ( can you still say that in March? China just celebrated their New Year so I think it's okay)

With a New Year comes new challenges and almost always thoughts on a new direction. With that said, I am announcing that my website and services are "on hold". I will be traveling soon (I did mention a new direction, yes!).

My aim is to learn/absorb different perspectives and experience that I can use to further my knowledge and expertise.

Thank you to my friends and family for your support in my endeavors. I will see you soon. :-)

How are you spending your time??

“Sure, [you] may be competent to do that little job. And sure, sometimes you have to do everything when you start out. But now you're doing a $10 or $20 per hour fix-the-faucet job and you're not doing your No. 1 job, which is getting and keeping customers. That job pays $100 to $1000 per hour.”

Launch!

I spent the past two weeks prepping and launching one of my side ventures: Toppings Inc. - custom made mini fascinators (Instagram: ).

I am proud to say that it was a successful launch. Of the 74 minis that I made, I sold 66!

I decided to launch during one of Bermuda's most popular holiday weekends - Cup Match. During this time people are feeling very festive and more importantly dressing festively as well! People wanted to show their colours! The Cup Match edition minis were a hit! Even tourists who had no allegiance to a particular team joined in on the fun by purchasing a mini or two.

Consequently, during this prep and launch, I picked up a few more small business skills as well as improved on the skills I already have. It wasn't all peachy, I ran into some struggles which I also learned from. I really love all aspects of small business so it was very rewarding to spend the last two weeks on this project launch.

A BIG thank you to everyone who supported the mini project launch!

Go ahead, take a break…or two! I found this article on the educational approach for young children in Finland to be very interesting. Giving children multiple breaks for free time has proven to increase their focus, social and communication skills (also, a huge relief/regroup for the teachers!).

An American teacher in Helsinki questioned the national practice of giving 15 minute breaks each hour—until he saw the difference it made in his classroom.

A snapshot of this Sunday morning's cruise ship bringing in a few thousand people to the shores of Bermuda. On the approach, people stand on the deck and look over to the island - no doubt thinking of all the things they want to do, see and discover.
This begs the question: How can we meet and exceed their expectations? Are you thinking of how? You should and I can help.

How can I help you meet your own personal expectations?

A few months ago, I took a look at this tree and wondered if it was still alive. Spring came and still no leaves or flowers. I thought, "shouldn't this tree have leaves by now?" One day the branches were barren, there seemed to be little hope that it would sprout, then a while later, it bloomed and is thriving. Business behaves the same way. How can I help your project(s) get to full bloom? Contact: [email protected] xoxo girlFriday

Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Evening! It is early morning here in Bermuda. It doesn't matter if you aren't a "morning person". Be an "all day person". Every moment of the 24 hours in the day is an opportunity! xoxo girlFriday

Planning out your weekend just as you do your weekdays can increase your productivity. Make a list of the "anchor" items (the important tasks). Scheduling blocks of time is even more helpful. Don't forget to make time for some relaxation and fun! xoxo girlFriday (Instagram: ) assistant

from the Down Under to the Bermuda Triangle, Small Business owners agree, administrative tasks are time consuming! Hire a part-time Personal Assistant to get yourself and your business sorted out!

Australian small business owners spend on average one third of their time dealing with administrative tasks, rather than focusing on the core of their business, according to research published this week.
