When we were doing the final preps I sat down with Charlene (from .wedding.venue ) and she said “Hlulani would you please send me a list of the suppliers” and I literally said, the suppliers are literally also on the guest list..it was mostly my friends, my friends literally carried our wedding ❤️

Here's a bit about her below:
Onalerona has dedicated her life to social impact for women in tech. She has previously been a volunteer for several non-profit organisations that centre around teaching girls how to code for free.
She is a co-founder of Indoni Developers, a nonprofit organisation for African women in ICT.
She has been awarded a Social Responsiveness Award and featured on CNN’s Inside Africa.
Aside from her full time job as a consulting backend software engineer, she has a blog that touches on mental health issues - with a twist from a tech perspective. During her free time, she is an abstract artist.

She founded a Tech company InterCodex, which mainly deals with research within Deep Learning and Robotics.

South Africa was soo great we could have easily stayed another week but keh we adults with responsibilities 😬..

I literally made a wedding dress and wore exactly what I wished I’d wear on my wedding day 🥹?
So as soon as we knew we were gonna have a wedding in SA I went to try out wedding dresses and somehow what was available didn’t speak to me and felt as though I’d need to settle while in the process paying crazy amounts of money..I checked out few places and still couldn’t find something that spoke to me on their websites, so one Sunday afternoon it dawned on me that I could learn few things then make my wedding dress, I called my mom to share this crazy idea and to my not so surprise she entertained me, and the plan was that when she visits me in Vienna we’d do this together, this somehow didn’t work because a second hand machine I’d bought broke…I looked at this as a sign that maybe I’m meant to do this alone..
What would follow in the next months would be me spending most parts of my evenings and weekends learning to actually make something(I did have the sewing basics, thanks to my mom) I watched a lots of YouTube videos, checked out different patterns, followed a whole lot of sewist on instagram, prayed to not mess this up(although I’d still be happy and content, had I messed this up), saved a lots of Pinterest 📌 for inspiration..
My husband was mostly at the receiving end of mostly my excitement I couldn’t keep to myself everytime I thought I had a solid idea of what I’d make…I sent a lots of proof of concepts to my friends and bless their souls because they entertained me and sometimes I found their words affirming.
I took a creative week off from work to Atleast come up with something, this felt time sensitive since the wedding was almost approaching, after that week I knew I’d have a dress and I’d be happy about it..Flo a friend of mine literally spent an entire weekend with me while she watched me create a dress that’d be my wedding dress, if was a great kind of emotional support I needed, and also someone to help with fittings, and few weeks before the wedding, I HAD THE DRESS 👗
This was such a rewarding and probably one of the most thrilling, adventurous and sometimes scary things I’ve ever had to do,,
And you know what? My heart is happy ❤️

F1: we were just in the middle of a descend from a constant 410 climb up and I guess at this very moment my husband was doing a lot of pep talk and encouraging me to take as much time as I need because is better to arrive later than unsafe
F2: was during this specific climb up and I deliberately asked to this picture because I needed to remember that specific moment, not an easy one but very rewarding
Something about the mountains reminds me of how gracious God is❤️
