Why travel they say?

I say, why not!?

We are traveling through our life no matter where we are, taking in new sights, sharing in new experiences, trying new things...but there is something magic about changing our environment, breaking the daily routine and discovering more about who we are in these days or weeks of 'travel'

If in doubt....travel!

I've enjoyed many beaches over the years around the world, and Australia sure has some of the best!

This is one of my favourite spots and was taken only last weekend, soaking up the autumn rays, enjoying the warm water temps and feeling like I could literally be anywhere in the world!

Where is your favourite beach (in the world)?
And where is your dream beach location?

Mine...it's so tough as I've enjoyed so many, but I'll say my local Caves Beach, NSW for my amazing sunrise and sunset experiences, how much it changes there constantly and of course the caves to walk through (at low tide) and explore.

Dream beach, I'm still keen for a nice relaxing Bora Bora experience sleeping over the ocean and enjoying all the island vibes!

When I talk about the deliciousness of travel.....I absolutely mean the literal indulgences you find along the way too 😋

Lime and Coconut cake and the most romantic looking Sticky Date 🥀...yes they were both for me 😉, yes they tasted even better than they looked and yes, I will always remember that experience when I'm next down the coast.

I can tell you some of my favourite travel experiences through the foods I've enjoyed....are you a foodie too? (Its not just a travel thang for me though...I'm an appreciator of food anywhere, anytime 🤣)

Hope this weekend has been a relaxing one and you've been able to unplug, unwind and reconnect ✨

Don't you just love synchronicities!

New Zealand has a very special place in my heart after living there for almost 3 years.

I'd left the UK for a round the world trip, travelled across North America for 3 months, had a relaxing island stop in Fiji, then landed in NZ with my 1 year Working Holiday Visa (this was back in 2005/6).

After staying in Auckland with family for a few months and working to save for more travels, I decided to head further north to the Bay of Islands.
(More on this stunning place another time!)

As Autumn in the North Island hit, it was time to embrace all the upcoming rain of winter or head south where the rain was more snow... bearing in mind I had never lived in the snow before (more of a warm sunshine gal!) and had never been on a winter/ski holiday...dry slope skiiing with school once had been my only experience!

A quick online application to NZski, an offer for an interview soon followed and I was packing up my life again to head south....everything crossed that it would all work out!

Again, so much to share about those winter season days (I ended up working for 3 seasons, learning to ski the 1st, snowboard the 2nd and then be a ski area host for my 3rd! Loved it!)

Summers in the South Island though....they are something else!

Looooong sunny days, snow still on the mountain tops, incredible outdoor adventures and walks...one of my favourites being the famous Routeburn Track.

This is where the synchronicity came in....talking about this and a few of my other favourite hikes with a friend, and then my mum randomly clearing things out at home (in the UK) and sending me a pic of some cards I'd made and sent to her all those years ago....one being this, an incredible view that I always remember of that trip!

This is the same backpack I left the UK with in 2005 and recently took to Costa Rica too! Gee its seen some sights!

Travel to me is so much more than just going somewhere different, seeing the 'must-do' sights... it's seeing things in ways unique to you, it's creating those memories that continue to travel with you, and through you in the moments you share.

Excited to share more and see what it inspires in you! Lx

What has been your favourite travel adventure and memory to date?

I may have to make it a top 3...and share a few more in another post because there's been soooooooo many!

But after talking about it again with a friend recently (over a tasty Pinot 🍷 from Tassie, that was also an amazing trip, my first exploring in a van), it would have to be my Pacific crossing from Nadi, Fiji to Pahia, North Island, NZ in 2007...8 days at sea on a 65ft yacht, one of 4 crew. I had the sunrise and sunset shifts (3hrs each around the clock). It was just the most unique experience and one I'll never forget ⛵

2nd would be flying an aerobatic plane over the Southern Alps of NZ after meeting a guy whilst white water rafting, who not only turned out to be a pilot, but had his own plane 😳...pays to make new friends 😉 It was insane g-force trying out all the moves, and the views were incredible.

3rd I am going to say watching the Mon Repos Turtles lay their eggs and also seeing a few hatch, on the beach near Bundaberg, Qld. A loooooooong night, but so incredible to witness and be a part of the whole process.

This has me thinking about my favourite moments of all my trips now...🤩

Making memories....is there anything better?! ✨

This is why travel is so personal....it's not only discovering new places, but remembering parts of yourself that sometimes get forgotten, the things you like to do and the way you love to feel.

I am all about savouring the deliciousness of life, and this is a really magic part of my offerings...

Yes, I'm a food lover, and travel of course can bring many tasty, traditional eats and treats into your experiences.

It is how you embrace a culture, a way of life, a memory marker through all your senses.

However squeezing all the juice of the lemon and those ohmygawwwwwwwwwwd moments don't just have to come from that unmatched gelato or tastebuds tantalising fresh cerviche...they can be experienced in many different moments that make your trip and memories you carry with you, unmatched.

Ready to experience travel in a new way?

There are definitely a few 'Lucy's secret recipe' ingredients to my services.

You don't just receive peace of mind that all is booked, organised and take care of, but that You and those you may be travelling with, are considered according to the type of trip you are planning, the dynamics of your trip (solo, couple, family, group), and of course, how you want to feel!

Thanks to my love for all things connection, creativity and celebration, my offerings are a complimentary mix of travel, lifestyle and relationships, my knowledge in and experience of, things I have coached in separately all coming together in the most 'why did I not think of this sooner' package, because it is not only my jam, what I love and pretty awesome at, by that is a really valuable asset, not only to your next trip, by in how you then continue to travel through life after!

The conversations, initial planning appointments and feedback already has been amazing!

So if you are keen to get amongst it, reach out!

Live, love, travel! And know you are taken care of every step of the way!

Well Hello! No surprise, you caught me at the beach....🧜🏼‍♀️

It's one of my favourite places to be and it would be my absolute pleasure, to ensure that you are wherever those 'feels' may be for you when heading off on your next adventure....✨

I'm Lucy, I'm a Brit who has been living in Oz for almost half my life now (where does the time go?!) and I am all about the joy of experiences! Experiences in the present moments, in the memories they bring, but also in the process and the lead up excitement!

Taken Care of Travel was born after my recent travels to Costa Rica. A much overdue trip after being cancelled in April 2020, and other than playing tour guide to my parents visiting from the UK in December as we explored WA, and the NSW south coast, this was my first trip overseas in too long!

For ease, and due to the trip being booked at short notice in the end, I took an organised tour, had the most amazing tour guide, met incredible people and realised how valuable it was to have everything taken care of...both myself and everything that made the trip what it was.

Upon my return I had caught the bug once again!

I left the UK originally in 2005 for a one year round the world trip....travelled extensively across America, however I found myself gratefully 'stuck' living the dream in NZ for the next 3 years, enjoying the travel and tourism industry. I worked in hospitality at cafes and restaurants, at ski fields, for 4wd tour companies and on day sail boats. Some of the best years of my life!

I then hopped across the ditch to Australia and Newcastle NSW became my home...I've now been here for over 16 years and just love the beach and lakeside lifestyle, sun and moon rises over the ocean, sunsets over the lake, amazing community...bliss!

I will be sharing much more of my own experiences, travel tips and insights and of course the services that I will be offering, and I look forward to sharing in it all with you!

I already have quote requests and options to explore for a few that have reached out already, so if you are keen to connect, please msg through this page or refer to the links in my bio and we'll start bringing your dream trips to life!
