The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was a monumental tomb built in the 4th century BC for King Mausolus of Caria, in what is now Bodrum, Türkiye.It stood approximately 45 meters tall and was decorated with intricate sculptures created by the most skilled Greek artists of the time. The structure combined Greek, Egyptian, and Lycian architectural elements.
Although mostly destroyed by earthquakes, its legacy lives on — the word “mausoleum” comes directly from this site.
