David and I enjoyed 43 years of marriage, 4 children, and 11 grandchildren. We struggled through starting the company in 1995 and growing it until it's close on July 31, 2017.
I will miss promoting ALABAMA and tourism. I will miss driving through this beautiful state. I will miss friends in Tourism AND I will miss David my husband/cohort. RIP 1948 - 2017.

After 22 years of serving the Alabama Tourism Community, we will be closing InfoCenter Alabama effective July 31, 2017. We have enjoyed the many friendships made over these years and will continue to count you among our friends. As sad as this is, it is time for us to retire and spend more time with our immediate (4 children, 11 grandchildren) and extended family.

We will begin removing our touchscreen kiosks around the state beginning August 1 and discontinue our website at that time.

We thank all for the support we have received since launching our business in 1995.

Now this is the ultimate road trip!

We had one of our InfoCenter Alabama kiosks in the lobby (seen in the lobby picture). The waterline was at least a foot high. Lost the computer and UPS, but all else was good to go. We cleaned up the cabinet and reinstalled it. It is in the lobby today next to the ticket counter. We saw all the damage first hand and it was amazing, especially in the Aircraft Hanger.

Ten years ago, Hurricane Katrina blew through the Park causing $7.1 million in damage. Here's a look at what we faced "after the storm."

Now Hear This!
Our historian, Todd Kreamer, is currently working on creating standardized biographies of the crewmen who served aboard the USS ALABAMA. He has begun with the 650 names included in the USS ALABAMA 50th Anniversary book. The database will include a listing for each crewman that contains their name, photo, the date they came aboard ship and the date they left. Currently Kreamer has little-to-no information on many of the men. Along with the 50th Anniversary book, he is referencing Fold3.com and Ancestry.com.

The long-range plan is to have this database complete and available to the public as a research source.

If you have a family member who served, we would like to hear from you. Please contact us through facebook or by calling our office at 251-433-2703.

SAVE THE DATE!

We are very proud that the citizens of Alabama came together in the Spring of 1964 to raise enough money to transfer the World War II Battleship USS ALABAMA from the US Navy to be displayed in Mobile, Alabama at a park created from 2.9 million cubic yards of the Mobile Bay bottom, which was dredged out to float the Battleship into place.

Opening 50 years ago today, USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park stands for all our Alabama and American HEROES, all those past and present who have served or currently serving in the five branches of the United States Armed Forces.

You are the reason we are here and our mission is to continue to honor and remember those who have given us our precious American freedom, especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Tomorrow starts the next 50 years!! We are America's most unique military attraction and the most recognizable symbol of the State of Alabama. Come see us!!

Today, December 7th, 2014, marks the 73rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. This attack killed over 2,000 American military personnel and civilians and injured almost 1,200 others. On the day after the attack, during President Roosevelt's speech to congress, he stated that the bombing of Pearl Harbor is "a date which will live in infamy".
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, is observed annually on December 7th, to remember and honor all those who died in the attack.

There's a reason they're called ghost towns. Somehow, even when the people and buildings are gone, the spirit of a settlement often remains, with reminders of their bustling pasts brushing past visitors on breezes.
