We provide guided photography tours, both weekend and daily for both inexperienced and experienced photographers. Our guides will get you to the best spots for both sunrise and sunset and for those less experienced they will provide effective tuition to get your camera off the auto setting and get the most from your pictures. At Chasing the Light we also provide post processing tuition to take your photos to the next level so you'll be proud to hang that image on your wall.

There's still one spot left on the Cape to Cape workshop I'm running in late October so if you want some affordable tuition to get your camera off auto combined with a weekend away seeing some of the best landscape spots the South West has to offer then give me a shout.

Only 2 spots left on the Cape to Cape workshop!

If you're thinking of improving your landscape photography then why not join me and a group of like minded souls in the beautiful SW for a weekend of photography, processing with laughs aplenty along the way.

What a day, 4 spots on the Cape to Cape workshop gone already...you have to be quick or else you'll miss out! :-)

Well at long last I have finalised the details for another SW workshop. What can you expect if you decide to come along? Well hopefully you'll learn about the art of landscape photography and how to bring your images to life through post processing techniques. The group sizes are small (8 max) which allows more 1 to 1 contact and you will be shooting with other like minded photographers

I have tried to keep the cost of this workshop affordable to all so if you'd like to know more, message, email or even phone me and I can have a chat.

Oh and above all I can guarantee you will have fun in this stunning part of our state.

10/07/2017

I don't even know if anybody reads this anymore but it's looking likely that I'll be running a workshop over a weekend in late October (20-22nd) if anyone would be interested?

We'd be visiting some great SW landscape locations and looking at composition, using filters, focus stacking and processing techniques.

Would anyone be interested?

** South West Photo Safari Version 2.0 **

Unfortunately it would seem that I was a little premature in announcing this last week as I have since found out that I cannot have leave that week due to 'operational issues'. In fact leave has become a major issue in my everyday life and is making it virtually impossible to run this venture in any form at present.

It is extremely disappointing to me but ongoing discussions have not changed the outcome and with this in mind I have decided that I will need to make some huge changes if CTL is to continue to operate. To do this I will need to think long and hard as to whether I can make a living and support myself by purely working for CTL.

Again with this in mind, it is with massive regret that at this present time CTL will be going on the back burner and will not be running any tours or workshops for the forseeable future.

I would like to thank all of those who have supported me, believed in what I was doing and, hopefully, enjoyed what we have done.

I apologise for any inconvenience.

I hope to be back in the future.

Regards,

Brian (CTL)

** South West Photo Safari Version 2.0 **

New and Improved!

OK folks, it's looking likely that CTL will be running this years version of the South West photo Safari during October (most likely 23rd - 25th TBC).

As with all our tours you'll head down on the Friday afternoon, shoot sunset in one of the many fantastic locations down here in this beautiful corner of the state, before rising early the next morning to shoot sunrise at yet another superb location...there are so many to choose from.

This year we're also hoping to throw at least one visit to a location where only CTL has access.

The weekend will be topped off by one last sunset and sunrise shoot before leaving you free on the Sunday afternoon to either see more of the region yourself or make your way leisurely home.

For those that have not done one of our tours, what you can expect is stunning scenery and locations, like minded people who are great company, tuition from Brian should you require it and plenty of laughs...and I mean plenty.

Interested? Let me know and I'll send you full details.

Ok folks...those of you that still read this I need to pick your brains.

If you were to come on a photo tour down south which accommodation option would you prefer:

a) Accommodation was provided by us and was included in the price of the tour.

b) We provide you with a preferred accommodation with a discount code and you have to book yourself.

c) You source and book your own accommodation and just make your own way to meeting points.

Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to reply. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we strive to get CTL up and running in the SW region and to provide you, our potential customer, with the best service we can.

Just a quick message to let everyone know that we are still here and still active. At present I am trying to source some decent accommodation (and a few new spots to shoot) so that I can offer a few photography tours down to the beautiful south west of WA....and what a photographers dream it is!

As always I want to keep the price down but the quality up so that these are open to all and not prohibitive.

Thanks to everyone for looking in and please bear with us whilst we got sorted down here!

Another micro micro Lightroom and Photoshop tip has been added to our YouTube channel. This week we look at a good way to convert an image to black and white using Photoshop. We also look at one way to add a simple but effective vignette. Why not have a look and even subscribe so you continue to get these gems of information.

If you have any friends who may be into photography please share this page and my YouTube page.

Thanks for dropping by.

We at CTL have set up a YouTube channel so we can keep you informed with little Lightroom or Photoshop tips and tricks. Today I added the first of those videos looking at how I create a simple yet effective frame around my photos in Photoshop CC for presentation on websites.

Here it is in all it's glory...head over, have a look and let me know your thoughts. Oh and it still does not come with subtitles!

Well, the dust has now settled on the last 2 seminars and I'd like to thank all of those who attended and say how much I enjoyed them. Apologies to those who encountered the technical difficulties on the first evening but I have spoken to the Uni regarding this, however it did force my hand to make the video which has hopefully helped as an aide. Those of you who did not send me their email address please do so and I will send you the link to the video.

Thanks again for your support ladies and gents, it really is appreciated.

26/02/2015

For those coming to tonight's seminar just follow the people in gowns! We're right next to the graduation! See you all soon.

23/02/2015

Well, it's nearly time for the Introduction to Lightroom workshop. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone on Wednesday and Thursday. Make sure you have your campus map and my phone number with you....oh and it's Latte with 1 for my coffee! ;-)

07/02/2015

Thanks to everyone for their interest in the Introduction to Lightroom workshop. The Wednesday 25th February session is now full (though there is a waiting list in case someone pulls out).

However, due to the popularity we have added another session the following evening:

Thursday 26th Feb form 7.00pm - 9.00pm @ Curtin University, Bentley.

There are still a few spots available for this session so if you are interested please get in touch via my email ([email protected]) and I will send you full details.

Once again, thank you to those of you who have supported this event.

At last Curtin have confirmed that the room is available and booked so if you'd like to learn about Lightroom and how powerful a tool it is for photographers then plase register your interest her and I'll get back to you.

Cost is $60 ($51 if you are a Friends in Focus member) for 2 hours which also includes handouts.

30/01/2015

OK folks, I need some feedback here as I'm trying to finalise the years calendar and it is proving so hard what with venue dates etc. So here goes , feedback required please....

Which would be your preferences?

1. What level of course do you require: Beginner, Intermediate or advanced?
2. What would you like to see more of (if anything), LR, PS or specific shooting courses (Lighting, astro, portrait, long exposure etc).
3. Evening or weekend courses?
4. Two hour course or a combined shoot and process course (or a combination).
5. Is Curtin University a good venue for you (Bentley)? If not, where would you like to see courses held (Suburb)?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to comment. I will be posting a timetable of courses early next week (starting with an introduction to Lightroom course in February) but would like to add more to the events depending upon what people want.

Remember folks that I try to keep my costs for all courses at a minimum (unlike some others) and that if you are a FIF member you also qualify for a discount.

Thanks again for your support.

I've just returned from a visit to the beautiful Island state of Tasmania and it's a must visit for anyone serious about landscape or nature photography. Maybe we'll add it to the list of places for CTL to visit!

Anyway, I was lucky enough to meet a few of the locals, though they seemed a little grumpy!

Hope you all had a great start to 2015...please keep an eye out for upcoming events and workshops...also let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see or do and we'll try and facilitate it.

31/12/2014

Well, today brings closure to 2014 and what a year it's been. The year that saw the crazy dream of 'Chasing the Light' actually become a reality and for all those who helped me, supported me and believed in me I would like to say a massive thank you.

2014 saw CTL host 2 trips to the South West and a trip to the Great Southern with a great bunch of people. As well as this we hosted a couple of workshops and again I thank all those who attended for their patience and support. I made mistakes, I learned lessons but above all I bloody well had a great time trying to make it work.

What does 2015 hold in store for CTL? Who knows, however I'm determined to give this a real crack and see where it takes me.

Once again to those who supported and encouraged me, I thank you and am eternally grateful. To those who didn't believe I could do it, well I guess I proved you wrong!

Have a safe, enjoyable and prosperous new year and hopefully I'll see you sometime soon.

I wanted to show what a powerful tool Lightroom is for processing your photographs so I'm posting this before and after shot which I have processed only using LR (not my usual LR then PS workflow). Let me know what you think and if you're interested keep an eye out for some Lightroom workshops coming up in the new year.

06/11/2014

Departure day is almost upon us! This time tomorrow evening I hope we are all set up for a shoot at Bluff Knoll and that we get some decent weather to capture this magnificent feature...if not we'll enjoy the banter, wine, beer and pizzas even more.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Lodge tomorrow afternoon please drive carefully and have a safe trip down.

- Friday night food -

Right, options are limited for Friday evening, the Lodge has a. Restaurant which will cater for us but mains are $38 a go. They can also provide pizzas at $15 per op but I'm suggesting we all bring something down and make a meal ourselves that we can all sit down and enjoy once we have finished our shoot. I can get 5-6 pizza bases and assorted toppings so we can make those. I believe Michelle was gonna bring some lasagne and Alethea some apple crumble. What are everyone's thoughts and if we are agreeable what can you bring? Oh and Ian, sorry but you're on you're own what with your allergy to everything except the pizza box!

03/11/2014

- Stirling Ranges Photo Safari -

4 days to go and finally the itinerary is complete...just had some great news for Sunday morning's planned shoot! Cannot wait!
