Happy Veteran’s Day!
Today is Veterans Day. It would mean the world to us if you would take a minute to read and share this story.
David Sidwar entered the United States Air Force in 1965. He was trained as an aircraft mechanic and assigned to the 6th Special Operations Squadron. In 1968 the squadron deployed to Southeast Asia for service in the Vietnam War. During his time in Vietnam, David repaired and maintained Douglas A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and received numerous individual and unit awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal and Presidential Unit Citation. He returned home from Vietnam in 1969 and was honorably discharged.
David Sidwar was our dad. He passed away two weeks ago from cancer. He was an extraordinary man, a great husband, father, veteran, and our hero.
Please share his story of service with as many people as possible in the hopes they will share their own stories. We owe so much to the courage and sacrifice of our veterans. Without them, the fundamental freedoms we enjoy everyday would not exist. Happy Veterans Day 2021. Thank you.
