Ella is a small town in the highlands of Sri Lanka, vastly famous for the great hikes with incredible views. Anyone passing through the hill country of Sri Lanka will sure visit Ella as it's centralized in every possible way.
The morning sunrise and the evening mist, with clouds covering the summits of the mountains, is quite a view which bound travellers to spend some quality time in Ella.

Great Western is a rural railway station of Sri Lanka at Great Western estate of Nuwaraeliya district.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සයවැනියට උසම Great Western කඳු පංතිය පාමුලින් උඩරට දුම්රිය මාර්ගය වැටී ඇත.දුම්රියෙන් පමණක් ලඟාවියහැකි Great Western දුම්රිය ස්ථානය කඳුපාමුල පිහිටා ඇත.කොළඹින් හා බදුල්ලෙන් පිටත්වන පොඩිමැණිකේ දුම්රියන් මාරුවීමට නියමිතව ඇත්තේ Great Western දුම්රිය ස්ථානයෙනි.

කඳු මුදුනේ සිට බලන විට වරින් වර කඳු අතරින් සැඟවී යමින් තලවකැලේ දුම්රිය ස්ථානයේ සිට වටගොඩ පසුකොට ග්‍රේට් වෙස්ටෙර්න් වෙත දුම්රිය ලඟා වන අයුරු දැකගත හැකිය

Great Western is high 1464m above sea level. This railway station is at between Watagoda and Randella railway stations. The train travels large number of meters above in Thalawakele, Watagoda and Great Western area. Railway is like angle in this area. Great Western railway station has two platforms. It has only two railway lines. One and only railway station which has two platforms and only two railways of up country railway called Great Western.

Sub platform is single one and there is no bridge or any thing to move each other. Several tea estates can be seen on Great Western railway station. Two way Signaling system is available at this railway station and a lot of tea estates can be seen on it. Several television advertisements, Tele dramas, Films are captured at closed this railway station. Adams Peak can be seen very clear in this place.

Hakgala Botanical Garden / හක්ගල උද්භිද උද්‍යානය

හක්ගල උද්භිද උද්‍යානය යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නිර්මාණය කර තිබෙන උද්භිද උද්‍යාන පහ අතුරින් දෙවැනියටම විශාල, නුවරඑළිය පිහිටා තිබෙන උද්‍යානයකි.

Hakgala Botanical Garden is situated on the Nuwara Eliya-Badulla main road, 16 km from Nuwara Eliya. It was established in 1861 for the purpose of experimentation and promotion of Cinchona cultivation in Sri Lanka.

Once after the Tea replace the Cinchona, it was turned into an experimental Tea cultivation. In 1884 it transformed to a garden since then many sub tropical and some temperate plants were planted in the gardens. Now the garden is famous for number of species of Orchids and Roses.

The South West from May to August and the North East from October to December, the annual average rainfall being about 2300 mm. The best time to see the gardens is probably from about mid March to the end of April, popularly known as the Nuwara Eliya seasons. The gardens put up their best display of temperate annual flowers, Roses and Orchids during this period.

The flora of the gardens is distinctly sub tropical and consists of representatives of the indigenous, montane flora intermingled with those introduced from other subtropical countries, systematically planted in various sections of the gardens.
