📍Namdroling Monastery: Also known as the Golden Temple of Coorg, Karnataka is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India.
This was our main attraction when we visited Coorg. One can explore the alluring architecture of the monastery or offer prayers at the main shrine. There are even food stalls serving Tibetan style food inside the monastery premises.
The vibe of this place is truly unmatched.

📍Ancient Jain Temple in Wayanad:

This ancient temple situated in the heart of Sultan Bathery area of Wayanad is usually missed but is a must visit for every history enthusiast !!
🙏
Built in the 13th Century AD, this temple had first served as a shrine, then became an important centre of commercial activity, and then in later 18th century, it became an ammunition store of Tipu Sultan, the then Mysore King.

After Tipu Sultan's vandalism, the temple was deserted for almost 150 years. Later the Archaeological Survey of India took over the maintenance and declared it a monument of national importance.

There are no idols inside the temple and only structures stand now. Entrance to the inside of the sanctum is not allowed. The temple can be visited between 8am to 6pm on all days. The entrance is very narrow and can be easily missed, so look carefully or take a local's help.

STEPWELL in KERALA 😯😯:
We've all come across the Stepwells of Rajasthan and Gujarat but have you heard of a Stepwell in Kerala??
Situated 14kms away from Kannur, this Stepwell is outside the Sree Peralassery Temple. Legend has it that the temple traces its origin to the Treta Yug and Lord Rama enshrined Lord Subramanya here. Here's what is unique about the temple:

✴️ This temple is famous for Snake worship.
✴️ Main offerings in the temple is Hen's eggs.
✴️ The pond at the bottom is full of fishes.
✴️ Taking a dip in the pond is considered sacred, however, you can dip your feet and the fishes will give you a natural pedicure.
✴️ The annual Kodiyettam festival is celebrated in December when traditional art forms are performed.
If you are in or around Kannur, you cannot miss this place.
Temple timings: 4 am to 12:30 pm and 4:15 pm to 8 pm.
The Stepwell is outside the temple premises and can be visited anytime during the day.

Look at that blue 💙💙
Kavvayi Backwaters - sprawling across the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod, this lesser known pristine land of composed beauty is the largest Backwater island group in the northern part of Kerala !!
These are less popular than Alleppey and Kumarakom, and hence not yet ruined by Tourism. The water is so so clean and running in multiple shades of blue. The houseboats are limited and there are no online bookings.
You can ask your hotel to put you in touch with one of the boat operators.
We would highly recommend going here instead of the popular areas, so you can get a calm and serene backwaters experience!!

Did you know that the second oldest Mosque in India is situated in Kasaragod district of Kerala??

Built in typical Kerala style architecture, this is a historic Muslim pilgrim centre.

This beautiful mosque is believed to be established by Malik Ibn Dinar, an Arab saint who brought Islam to India.

Located next to a river and less than a km from the railway station, this place is easily accessible and it's grand architecture is a true sight to behold.

📍Ahar Cenotaphs: Hidden gem of Udaipur !!
Cenotaphs are a small tomb-like structure built in honor of kings, queens and people of crucial importance. The Cenotaphs of Ahar are created to mark the bravery and valor of the Kings of Mewar.

The village of Ahar lies 3 kms from Udaipur city and there are multiple transport options to reach there.
It's amazing to know that more than 250 Cenotaphs of the Maharajas of Mewar were built around 400 years ago. And there are 19 Chhatris to commemorate the 19 Maharajas who were cremated here. 🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸
The striking architecture of the memorial will leave you in total awe. The Cenotaphs are built in marble and adorned with beautiful carvings. There are arched roofs sheltering the stunning columns raised on higher platforms, truly a photographer's delight.

📍 Nehru Garden, Udaipur !! (Read full caption)
Can't get enough of pictures when you have the entire place to yourself !! ......................................................................................................
These (once beautiful) gardens are in the middle of Fateh Sagar Lake and one has to take a quick boat ride to reach there. But you can give this one a miss !!

It's really disheartening to see that the place has not been maintained at all. The boat shaped restaurant which used to be the point of attraction, is now in a dilapidated state. There are pyramid shaped fountains, pathways and gazebos to enjoy the view. But everything seems to be in a state of decay.

The fountains don't function at all, there are no cafe's or food stalls and the rest room facilities are really unhygienic.

The boats ply to the garden only when they are full and the same applies even while returning. So it's possible that one has to sit here for a while before a boat comes.

It could be seen that it was once a really gorgeous place and I hope that the authorities bring it back to its glory.

P.S. Even the observatory located in Fateh Sagar is shut down.

This place is so good that it deserves a separate post !!
If you are visiting Sajjangarh Fort, we would highly recommend to have your meal here. It's a restaurant which promotes healthy eating and how millets can be incorporated in most of the dishes. We ordered:

1. Millets tikki chat
2. Millets bhelpuri
3. Banana fig and walnut smoothie with jaggery and
4. Oreo shake.
It was all so delicious, especially the chaat !! ......................................................................................................
Also, the ambience of the place is so rustic and colourful at the same time. The exteriors are tastefully done with a vintage swing and lots of plants. The interiors are lively but at the same time, retaining the rajastani culture, giving umpteen corners for the 'gram !!

📍Bagore-ki-Haveli : It is an Old palatial mansion built in the 18th century by Sh. Amar Chand Badwa, the then PM of Mewar Kingdom. Reflecting Mewar's rich heritage, the haveli has now been converted into a museum and has an assortment of huge courtyards, balconies, jharokhas, archways, cupolas and a fountain. ..................................................................................................................
You can't miss this architectural marvel while visiting Udaipur.
The view of Lake Pichola from the Haveli is absolutely enchanting, isn't it??

Showcasing the Indo-Aryan architectural style, the temple is built keeping the rules of Vastushastra in mind.
The temple is three storied and built on a raised platform proudly flaunting it's carved pillars, huge airy halls and intricately decorated ceilings. Udaipur Diaries: The Vintage and Classic Car Museum in Udaipur is a paradise for car lovers.
😍...............................................😍.............................................😍
Inaugurated in Feb 2000, this museum houses models of Rolls Royce, Mercedes, MGs, Cadillacs, Opel and Chevrolet's trucks. There is also a wide range of beautiful carriages displayed in the museum.

This collection is displayed in the Palace Garage, also known as the Mewar State Motor Garage in a location far away from the noise of the city.
Pic 5,6 & 7: The grand 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom was used in the James Bond movie Oc*****sy !!
The timings are 9 AM to 9 PM and a ticket for an adult costs Rs. 400/-.

MYANMAR GATE is the Gateway to the biggest Vipassana Centre at Dhamma Giri Meditation Centre in Igatpuri.

This striking gate has beautiful golden motifs with a huge red pagoda, green roof and intricate detailing which makes it a real standout !!

It also houses the very spectacular AsHoKa StAmBh, which was popularised by Ashoka when he played a major role in spreading Buddhism by depicting the Buddist edicts on his pillars, constructed after he turned to Buddhism.
