When I don't have the beach, I have about 5000 pictures to remind me of it. And that's not an exaggeration! LOL I feel at my calmest when I'm in or near water. I spent 23 days in Mexico last month. I badly needed rest and getting away from everything. With a 9 to whenever full time job, a full time Interior Design business, relationship situations and Covid-19, it's been a long year!!! I spent the first week in Holbox Island; a small, uncrowded and quiet island with the softest white sand my feet ever felt, and about 10% internet reception on the whole island. No Lie! I spent the week sleeping, eating, sunbathing, massaging, repeat.

While I'm not advocating for traveling during the pandemic, I won't tell you not to do it either. If there is one thing I've learned this year, it's that everyone has different self care needs. While I was ok staying in the house for about 3 months when the pandemic started, (besides going for a daily walk, I even did online groceries to avoid contact with anyone) I watched others struggle badly. Noone can tell you you how to feel, especially during once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. If you do feel the need to travel, be aware that safety measures may not be as expected. It's up to you to protect yourself and others as best as you can. I'll post about the safety measures I took in another post.

We have been away for a bit, dealing, thriving and just going through the year as best as we can. How have you been doing?

Make sure to always represent yourself and your heritage wherever you go! We take pride in sharing and educating about Haiti everywhere we go! For example, in India the easiest association was their cricket team, so I always used that to make the connection. Happy Haitian Flag Day to our Tribe!

Happy Sunday! Looking into my next trip like... 😂🤣. This is a hard month for me, I had two trips this month both of which were cancelled due to covid-19 🙄. I’ve been thinking about when we will be able to travel comfortably and normally again. I know some countries have opened their borders and people have made travel plans but it will be awhile until we can travel normally. I am guessing 2021!? 🤷🏿‍♀️ To all my travelers while you cannot travel right now, there are some things you can do during this “unwanted break” 🤣 to prepare for your next travels. Here are some tips on travel tasks you can do as we wait for this pandemic to end, so we can continue to catch flights and not feelings:
1- SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! Let’s be real! You need $ to travel. If you do it smart you won’t need as much but $ is still needed. During this time open a traveling bank account and put $ in there every week (if you can) to get a jumpstart on your travel funds!
2- RESEARCH! This is a perfect time to research your next few destinations. During this down time look up some places you want to visit, activities, tours, restaurants, airbnbs, hotels, etc. So when the time comes you’ll be prepared.
3- PLAN! Get your laptop out plan and budget your next trip! Based on your research, start planning. Write down the places you want to visit, links to airbnbs or hotels were you want to stay, tours, restaurants etc for each location. Make a preliminary 4/5 day itinerary based on how long you plan on staying. Make a packing list for this destination. With all your planning when this pandemic ends, you will be prepared to take off!
“Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Personally, I am working on TIP #3 I already planned 2 trips. Idk when I’ll be able to go BUT they are planned. What about you? Which tip are you or will be focusing on? Let us know!

Exactly 2 years ago today I pursued faith over fear and said goodbye to my comfort zone! I lugged 5 bags onto a Qatar Airways flight and landed in Hyderabad, India 16 hours later. That one year and 15 days I said yes to was nothing short of amazing! The Indian culture is one of the most fascinating cultures I have experienced. Here's to yes moments!
Have you said yes to some thing that ended up being one of the best moments of your life? Share some of your best YES decisions with us.

I’d rather be in Mexico but in honor of let’s take it back to my trip to ealier this year! I had the pleasure of visiting the a.k.a “The mouth at the well of Itza”. So much history! This was my 3rd time in Mexico but a different part. I highly recommend Tulum! Easy to get to and very affordable.
For i’m making shrimp tacos, guac, and mango margaritas! Are you doing or cooking anything special for cinco de mayo?!?

22/03/2020

This is absolutely your EAT* PRAY* LOVE moment! One of the biggest gain from this season could and should be a self rejuvenation. I think as people we often struggle with time. Time to care for ourselves, time to reflect, time to decompress or being still! Fortunately for you, you have nothing but time in this season. Use it to its full ability.
It's time to declutter your mind and spirit.
Here are some of our suggestions:

1. Find a corner of your home that you feel at ease in and claim it.
2. Do some self reflection and assess your mental needs.
3. Take some time to be still, rest and meditate. Find some daily devotions, the Bible, your favorite podcast. Whatever feeds your soul!
4. Journal, journal, journal! Your thoughts , your ideas, your feelings about this pandemic. It would be a great share for your children years later.
5. Read! More than social media posts. Actually find the time to read some material on whatever topic is appealing to you. Paper books, Audiobooks, kindles. It's a great way to pass time but also keeping your mind activated.
6. Always wanted to learn a hobby or need a side hustle? What better time to take an online course! There are plenty of platform with free or low cost classes that you can complete in hours or days!
Whatever you decide, take the time to replenish, care for and grow yourself!
How are you practicing self care in this season? Please share some books, your favorite podcast and some learning platforms with us.

pssst! Vannie here! Let's have a little chat! I know those of you who like to travel like we do are struggling right now! We can't leave our house let alone the country! I personally have 3 cancelled trips! But you know what? It's OK! Desperate times call for desperate measures and our health is of the upmost importance. We hope you are practicing social distancing! Yes I know it's hard but we can prioritize right.? I've grown to learn to see the silver lining in every situation and believe a lot of goods can come from this. We thought it would be great to provide some ideas of how you can benefit from this season. We'll focus on a different post for each idea.
-
SAVINGS: This is the best time to SAVE YOUR COINS! No travels, no dates, no trips to the mall, no dining out, no events to look cute for; so save all those coins! -
We suggest you take the time to declutter.
1. Clean out your closet and while doing that, put some outfits together for at least two weeks ( Cuz you know were going to do the most once this is done 😂). That goes for shoes, makeup, accessories as well. This will help curb some of the urges to go buy new things once this is done.
2. Learn how to meal prep! chop, season and freeze. This will help save on takeout and eating out.
3. Cancel out some of these subscriptions. Even if it's only for a month or two; I mean, you're not going to the gym, and you definitely dont need new outfits right?!
4. Declutter your Finances/credit: yes! this is also a great time to seat down and go through your financials and identify room for improvements. Hopefully the savings you're able to grow can go towards helping with that.

What are some ways you are saving during this season of coronavirus? Please share with us so that we can learn from each other.

I had no major plans for Asia this year considering I spent an entire year there last year. However, I have plans to spend some time in Italy this summer and with the number of deaths increasingly escalating in Europe, my mom is already eyeing me like " would it kill you not to travel as much this one year?" 😩🤦🏾‍♀️
How have the news of the Coronavirus impacting your travels?

Althought this was my third time in Mexico it was my first time going to a Cenote! Tulum has numerous Cenotes, private, at restaurants and some public. What are Cenotes you ask? Cenotes are surface connections to subterranean water bodies. In my opinion they are like caves on a body of water. We visited Grand Cenote in Tulum and Cenote Ik-il in Chichen Itza. To fully enjoy the Cenotes one should know how to swim or at least how to float. Well, I don’t know how to do either, yet, I love me a good beach vacation! I always find a local or another traveler to help me through my fear. Check out our instastory for a quick video!
So tell us in the comment section! Do you know how to swim?

10/02/2020

Okay y’all, Howdy?!? Let’s talk Spirit Airlines! If you know me you know that I love me some . A few months ago I secured a one way flight from Boston to Mexico for $89 on ! Can’t beat that right?! I was ecstatic as I love a good flight deal! Well, that excitement was unfortunately destroyed by a airport agent on Jan 28! Even if I pay $1 for a flight there’s still a certain level of customer service that I should experience!

Due to low visibility my flight into FLL arrived late which caused me to miss my connection to Mexico! Which is fine. But in true Spirit Airline fashion they only have one flight leaving out from FLL to Mexico per day! I approached the ticket counter to ask what my options are and if by any chance they provide any vouchers. I kindly asked to get a pass to get to the gate to get some food at the lounge as I had to possibly wait hours to get picked up by family to spend the night in FL. During my convo with one airport agent another shows up and mentioned this “you should be happy your flight was delayed and that you didn’t end up like Kobe and them people because we use the same system and they crashed because of low visibility. I wish they waited.” Although what she said has some truth to it, it’s what was said and how it was said. I was in so much shock, I asked her why would she say something like that but apparently she did not care. She had no idea if I was a big Kobe fan, how the crashed affected me or if I had any love ones who I tragically lost from a airplane crash. I was so hurt and emotionally disturbed I ran to the bathroom and bursted into tears! I submitted a complaint to because this kind of customer service and speaking to customers that way is unacceptable.

Have you or anyone you know had bad experiences with Spirit? If so, please share in the comment section!
