The Hopewell Rocks is the Home to the highest tides in the world. More than 100 BILLION tons of seawater flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy twice daily, exposing and again covering the Flowerpot rocks that have made the natural destination famous.

We made the visit during low tide, but would have loved to kayak it at high tide..

Today’s 4th of July ride took us along the Missisquoi River on the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail. It is 27 miles long, starting in St. Albans Vermont and ending in Richford Vt…. Only a short 1.5 miles from the Canadian border. Parts of the trail weaves in and through small villages and towns.

This beautiful Warren County Bikeway, 9.0 miles one way, is part of the old Delaware & Hudson River Railroad. Back in the day, long before cars, the railroad shuttled visitors from NYC to Albany and Lake George.
When arriving at Lake George many visitors hopped aboard one of the steamboats for a cruise or to drop them off at their Lakeside Cottage. There is also a 9 mile Glen Falls Feeder Canal towpath for the extra mileage! These trails are part of the proposed Empire State Trail to fully connect 750 miles intra-state network.
