So I've been told frequently lately that my job must be super awesome because I travel all over and get paid for it. I've decided to give everyone a rundown on my typical day (today specifically) so that you can see it isn't all fun and games.
6:00 wake up shower get dressed
630 call transportation vendor to verify 9 am pickup
640 brush teeth
650 eat breakfast while entertaining tourists
715 do room checks and remind tourists what they need to bring
815 organize tourists into their departure groups
830 meeting with co-director about snorkeling logistics
845 start loading shuttles and pass out entrance fees
945 arrive at hanauma bay organize groups for safety meeting and instructions for snorkeling
1020 clean and bandage coral cut
1045 repeat coral treatment
1115 remind tourists to reapply sunscreen
1140 coral treatment
1200 make sure water is being consumed
1245 make sure first group is leaving
1250 coral treatment
1320 next group leaves
1340 make sure last group is leaving pickup after tourists and lost and found items
1410 get on last shuttle call dinner and verify arrival time
1440 back at hotel eat and make signs for busses that evening
1520 check in surfers and water bikers
1545 treat sunburn
1610 check in park goers
1640 call transportation vendor to verify 1700 pickup is arriving on time
1715 start loading busses
1730 leave for dinner and shopping give commentary
1750 get dinner orders for following night
1800 lead tourists to dinner meet up and give suggestions for shopping
1820 call dinner for the following night to input orders
1850 call transportation vendor about missing wallet for tourist
1920 inform tourist wallet has been found
1935 tourist has gooey right eye clean with sterile rinse
1945 start lining everyone up for dinner
2000 dinner starts
2015 check on missing orders
2025 tape tourists playing trivia game with dinner
2045 eat dinner
2100 tell everyone to start getting their stuff together
2115 leave dinner picking up forgotten shopping items
2125 load on buses
2130 gooey eye is worse call clinic for emergency appointment
2145 pass out surfing photos
2200 get in taxi with gooey eye and go to clinic
2215 fill out paperwork at clinic
2230 wait
2255 go in doctors office with gooey eye
2300 wait
2320 doctor comes in
2340 its an eye infection from a cut inner eye lid
2345 wait for meds
2355 wait while patient pays
0000 taxi back to hotel
0015 help gooey eye with eye meds
0020 write this and go to bed!
I love my job but sometimes it is super exhausting :)
