I have been asked by several about FEMA assistance & yes, Governor McMaster asked & President Biden approved our status- BUT - each county must qualify. I reached out to our BCSO/BCEMD OFFICER, Col. Neil Baxley on what that. Here is his response: “Our Damage Assessment teams are out today. We must reach a threshold of approximately $750,000.00 in damages to public infrastructure such as government buildings, schools, roads etc.
Our current numbers also list less than 20 homes damaged. The Teams are looking at that also. We will submit all documented damage reports to the state for their inclusion into the total assessments. If those totals reach the thresholds, then Beaufort County will be included in the request for the expanded Declaration of Disaster.” For more info on BCEMD: https://bcso.net/our-agency/emergency-management-division/

Anyone without power can get a good free meal today at 6pm in Port Royal. ❤️

BEAUFORT FREE- we will be setting up this evening in the Port Royal area. Meals will be FREE until we run out. I know our bbq is good but please do not come get a free plate if you have electricity and a means to cook. We want to help our fellow neighbors who are without electricity! Once the food is done on the smoker and we know a time and I will post again.

Brought to the sea islands by the early Gullah, haint blue painted porch ceilings have been warding off evil spirits (and pesky bugs) in the Lowcountry for centuries.

For over 300 years locals have been painting their porch ceilings haint blue out of tradition and superstition and you'll see it all over Beaufort today.

This cute little diamondback terrapin was found along the beach at The Sands in Port Royal by Erin Hayes. 🐢💕 As adorable as they are with their artsy, mosaic shells, please be sure to leave them alone if you see one.
