Denver, 1994. I was in town shooting an episode of "Diagnosis: Murder" (that's another post for another page) but anyway I was killing time over a microbrew when I struck up a conversation with an English guy name Geoff. He seemed ancient to me at the time -- he was probably 60. He handed me a brochure for his business, called simply "Actually Quite Nice". This was the business: a few times a year

he led tours in the UK, driving vanloads of beer enthusiasts through the misty, green countryside in search of what he described as the best beer in the universe: Theakston's Old Peculiar. When I do a Google search on it now, Old Peculiar doesn't seem all that hard to find. But I guess it was in the 90's. Plus, as I recall, he was looking for Old Peculiar served from the keg, not the bottle, which was a tough find. I guess. Anyway, Geoff thought I had the greatest job in the world (I was an actor, that particular week I was the villain antagonizing Dick Van D**e and Scott Baio). And I thought he had the greatest job in the world (getting groups of people together and taking them to do something he really loved doing). Long story short, I stole the name of his company -- though I feel like if Geoff were around today he would give my enterprise his blessing. The whole point of the enterprise is getting together a group of people I like and going to fantastic places -- like Paris in March, 2014. We may even have a rare beer or two while we're at it.
