Hamlin Lake is being lowered for the winter season.

The process of lowering the Hamlin Dam begins today. This begins every year on the fourth Monday in October, the lake level is lowered 2 feet and takes between 4-8 weeks to complete.

The beauty of Hamlin Lake is breathtaking!

Six years ago this morning we witnessed the best sunrise we have ever seen. It was during one of our Picture Perfect Weekend Workshops. This was captured at Lost Lake in the Ludington State Park. We named it Insane Sunrise.

Lakeview Cottage at Griswolda Resort at Hamlin Lake. Hamlin was home to several resorts, restaurants, and stores in the early to mid-1900s.

Now that March is here and all of the ice has left Hamlin Lake, park staff have begun raising Hamlin Lake. The lake should reach its summer level between six and eight weeks from now, unless we see large deviations from spring's typical precipitation.

The Hamlin Lake water level will begin lowering on Monday, October 23rd.

Don't forget, on the fourth Monday of October, park staff begin drawing down Hamlin Lake to its winter level. The lowering takes between 6-8 weeks, depending on how much fall precipitation we receive. The winter level is approximately 30 inches below the summer level.
