Last (but certainly not least), we’d like you to meet the social media and writing team from Secret Street Tours!

📍Thaynara joined us in September, and as well as her social media work, she is pursuing a BA in Digital Marketing at TU Dublin.

📍Pragya, another new addition to SST, is a digital marketer. She has brought all her expertise and knowledge to the team.

📍Isabel also joined in September, and has an MSc in Communications and Media. She enjoys using creative storytelling to share SST’s message.

📍Molly has been with us for the last two years and is our talented writer. She has a BSc from UCD, and a Post Grad in Human Rights and Development Management.

Continuing on from meeting Carl and Sonali yesterday, we’d like to introduce you to two extremely dedicated members of the team!

📍Our fantastic Director is a researcher, and passionate advocate for social change. She loves exploring Dublin’s beautiful landscapes and playing football in her free time.

📍Fiona has been with involved with us since the very early days. Her knowledge of Irish tourism is unparalleled, and Fiona is the one responsible for training our guides.

On Friday, you met our founder - Tom - and today, we want to introduce two team members who help keep the show in the road!

📍Carl has been with us since 2021, and he assists with all things IT related. In his spare time, Carl enjoys crafting and woodworking.

📍 Sonali is our dedicated volunteer administrator. She has an MBA in finance and ran a clothing business in India before moving to Ireland.

Aside from our guides, the team at Secret Street Tours are all volunteers. As we’ve made some new additions in the last month, we want to make some introductions 🤗

We’ll start with our wonderful founder, Tom, who brought the idea of Secret Street Tours to Ireland after he went on a homeless walking tour in Vienna in 2018. He believed Secret Street Tours could make a real difference in people’s lives. Tom is also a business analyst at UNICEF, and you may find him working as a digital nomad across the world, enjoying sports and nature in his free time⛰️

This number does not include those experiencing “hidden homelessness”, or sleeping on the streets. Many people avoid emergency accommodation because of issues around safety.

Have you heard the term “hidden homelessness”? It’s when someone who does not have a permanent place to live, resides with family, friends, or stays in temporary accommodation. And in 2023, approximately 42,000 young people in Ireland (aged between 18 and 24) experienced this type of homelessness. This is 42,000 too many.

On Thursday, our newest guide Noel gave his first school tour to the wonderful students from The King’s Hospital School.

Beyond teaching the students about some of the city’s landmarks, Noel shared the famous story about how he and his friend escaped to New York as youngsters, as well as how he ended up experiencing homelessness. Luckily, the sun even made an appearance for the afternoon ☀️

Where We Started

After being inspired by the concept of homeless walking tours in other European cities, we decided to bring the idea to Dublin.

Given our homelessness crisis, we feel this concept has the potential to have a real and lasting impact, both for our guides and for those who join our tours.
