Legendary Irish photographer Chris Hill took the amazing cover photo. Chris has been capturing the landscape for twenty years, often working with Tourism Ireland. "I love Ireland with a passion," he says, "and to be hired to explore and photograph it is a dream come true."

What was his favorite project? "The Wild Atlantic Way in 2016 and 2017. This became the most successful Irish tourism project and I like to think my photographs helped its success."

Dunrobin Castle is a Scottish gem straight out of a fairy tale. Nestled in the stunning Highlands, this magnificent castle boasts 189 rooms and dates all the way back to 1279 - although it was beautifully redesigned in the Scottish Baronial style two hundred years ago by the same architect who designed the Palace of Westminster.

Our friends at The Crosskeys Inn have shared some photos of a bit of culture most of us have likely never heard of – but a group of CIE Tours guests got to experience the other day! In Northern Ireland, there’s a tradition called a “doing”, which is a fun-but-messy ritual for an engaged couple shortly before their wedding. Friends and family ‘capture’ the couple, cover them in things like beer, milk, or flour, then bring them around the area, often in a truck with horns blaring.

Our guests were lucky to see the celebratory spectacle of a bride and groom stopping by for their doing outside Ireland's oldest thatched pub, before the gang settled into an evening of music and merriment. Enjoy this glimpse of a quirky slice of Irish life!

If you've been to Ireland or Scotland with us, you've probably seen sheepdogs showing off their skills. But have you ever seen a truffle dog?

That's right, we've got a new specialized-dog experience to share... Our Tuscan Treasures with Cinque Terre tour features a truffle hunt in San Miniato, renowned for these prized delicacies. For centuries, dogs have been trained to sniff out the rare aromatic treats. Come along on our tours and you'll go on a truffle hunt yourself, and then enjoy a truffle-infused lunch.

Many of our London tours include a day of independent exploring on the Tootbus. It's a hop-on, hop-off service that lets you take in the city and stop off to see attractions like Big Ben, the Tower of London, the London Eye, and more as you please. It's Tattoo time! The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has started its annual run at Edinburgh Castle.

This year’s theme is “Journeys”, transporting guests on a cultural adventure. It will bring together over 800 performers in a spectacular display of military precision, awe-inspiring dance, enthralling music, and exciting light effects. This year’s show features performers from a host of organizations including the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines, the Citadel and the United States Sea Service Band, Teamwork Arts India, and Majestics Drum Corps from Switzerland.

And CIE Tours guests on tour in Edinburgh on Tattoo nights get reserved seats on the castle's esplanade to enjoy the show!

Ballintubber Abbey is an enchanting little church with a powerful history. This 800-year-old royal abbey was founded by Cathal Crobdearg Ua Conchobair, the King of Connacht, in 1216. It’s remained in continuous use since its foundation – earning it the title “the abbey that refused to die,” despite facing numerous challenges throughout its history.

With its serene ambiance and historic significance, it’s long been a draw for pilgrims. In recent years, it's been a favorite spot for celebrity weddings, with both Pierce Brosnan and Jean Butler of Riverdance fame tying the knot here. It’s a favorite of CIE Tours visitors, too, winning a Connacht Visit Merit Award in this year’s CIE Tours Awards of Excellence. Visit it on our Irish Odyssey tour!

"I felt like a kid on a really fun field trip." That's how Anetera Bryant, one of the summer interns here at CIE Tours, described her experience on the Taste of Ireland vacation. Anetera, a Florida native and a marketing major at Howard University, took the tour along with fellow intern Joseph Soliwoda Doan, an industrial psychology major at the College of New Jersey.

Congratulations to Riley and John, who just got engaged at the Cliffs of Moher!

They were touring Ireland on a special multi-generational graduation trip with a private driver. John's aunt Katie wrote their travel agent, Rob Saxon - Simple Luxuries Travel, that their CIE Tours driver helped to arrange a lovely celebratory lunch in a nearby pub. "This trip has been amazing," says Katie.

We wish a lifetime of happiness to Riley and John, and joy to the whole traveling family!
