It's Saint Brigid's Eve! February first is the day to celebrate one of Ireland's most beloved saints. Saint Brigid is known for her known for her kindness, creativity, and connection to nature. Her feast day marks the traditional arrival of spring in Ireland - and reminds us that the time of warmth and renewal is just around the corner.

All over Ireland there are many shrines dedicated to St. Brigid, from small wells to her own cathedral in Kildare - we feature a few of them in the photos below, taken by Gareth Wray.

"Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love."

Those words were written by the legendary Scottish poet Robert Burns, born on January 25, 1759. And Burns Night is upon us! Poetry lovers in Scotland and around the world gather every year on his birthday to remember Burns and his legacy. The verses for which he is so renowned are a celebration of life, love, friendship, and the enchanting landscapes of Scotland.

To mark the occasion, we’ve gathered some stunning images of the Scottish landscape so beloved by the poet, and some of his words to match. So pour a dram, raise a toast to friendship, and savor the beauty and culture of Scotland!

Millions of Irish-Americans and Canadians trace their roots back to ancestors who fled their homeland during the Great Famine of the 1840s. The Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross, County Wexford, is a replica ship of the era that tells the history of that migration and survival.

The Dunbrody's story is extraordinary: Between 1845 and 1851, the ship transported thousands, carrying as many as 300 desperate passengers per sailing in cramped and brutal conditions. Conditions were challenging, but the ship had an exceptional safety record - thanks to the care of her highly respected captain, John Williams.

Eilean Donan castle is one of the most beautiful castles in the world. Located on an island at the meeting of three lochs, it's surrounded by majestic Highland scenery.

The history of the island and the castle is rich - once a fortress against Viking marauders, the castle became a stronghold for Clans Mackensie and MacRae before its destruction during the Jacobite Risings of the 1700s. It would lie in ruins for two centuries until Lieutenant-Colonel John Macrae-Gilstrap purchased the island in 1911. He lovingly restored the structure to its medieval glory.

Happy Valentine’s Day! At CIE Tours, we’ve got a lot of love to go around – for our destinations, for our partners who do such a wonderful job welcoming our visitors, for our tour directors – and, of course, for our guests! On this special day, we celebrate a loving moment on an Irish Adventure vacation, when guest Kevin Vasquez popped the question to Bethany Russo.
