Kids Dress Up Box was inspired by my love of dressing up as a child. The shear thrill of being able to transform myself into anything or anyone I imagined. With a bit of help from my nan and a pair of her pantyhose I could go from a little girl with short curly hair to Rapunzel in the space of a few minutes. I could feel what it was like to have long flowing hair and whip it around like a propelle
r as I spun in circles with my arms stretched out wide. Transforming myself into different characters has always been a passion and I have carried it with me throughout my adult life. From fancy dress parties with friends, going out for a romantic dinner, to working in an office, to the characters I play in my children's party entertainment business Melinabox, so much of my life is about dressing up to suit the occassion. Whether its as a Fairy at a kids party or a mummy going for a walk along the beach with their child, life is always providing us with opportunities to play out different roles and project different parts of ourselves to the world. At the end of the day the best part of getting dressed up and presenting this part of yourself and feeling great in this moment is knowing that when you come home and take it all off you are still you and you are happy to be you no matter what you are wearing or what you happen to be doing. For some of us it takes a life time to really get to know ourselves and be happy with who we are. This business is all about tapping into the natural imaginative abilities of our children, the ones we as adults used to tap into so easily when we played as children. Its about dressing up and feeling what it feels like to be a fairy, with beautiful wings flying above the flowers and then feeling what it feels like to take those wings off and be comfortable and happy just being ourselves. Kids Dress Up Box is a play based learning program that allows children to explore different emotions and personality traits through stories, art, music and dress up play. Creating a special time each week where we celebrate the magical imagination that is so prominent in these precious young years and then using it to help children build a greater understanding of themselves as wonderful little individual beings who are comfortable and happy in their own skin.
