Southeast Asia is definitely an area I want to explore more. This brief layover in Ho Chi Minh was definitely not enough, but again, I squeezed in as much as possible! I did end up applying for a visa (which only took a few days to clear) because I wanted to actually see the city. Get out of the airport and explore on long layovers if you can!

Looking forward to heading back to Europe soon... Not Paris this time (at least not right now, but that could change 😂) but I am doing some country hopping.
This pic is back from October when I had a stopover in Paris and squeezed in every second of the city that I could in a day. I will always say yes to even a few hours in Paris if I can.

Yarra Valley is a great place for a day trip from Melbourne for wine tasting. I went with and it was fantastic. Easy pick up and drop off from the CBD, comfy ride, and a great selection of wine, gin, and chocolate. We lucked out with fantastic weather too. Plus, making a new unicorn friend never hurts.

Nature in the city.
Loved taking a morning stroll along the Yarra river right in the heart of Melbourne. Meandered down to the Royal Botanic Gardens before looping back up to the CBD for lunch.

Happy 2024! My resolution is to post more on this account. I've been slacking as travel has ramped back up.

Let's start with Hardware Lane in Melbourne, a cute street packed with restaurants that any foodie would love! Had a great (if jetlagged) meal here my first night in town. I think there's something for everyone.

I stopped in at and had such an amazing dinner, would highly recommend.

Lisboa. You captured my imagination.
Highly recommend wandering the streets of Alfama at sunset. The colours make for a spectacular show long into the evening. But bring your flats, the cobblestones and hills definitely makes heels a no-go.

Highly recommend walking around the center of Berlin at night. All the buildings lit up make for some fantastic sights... Plus, the city had a completely different vibe 🙂 Do you ever wander at night?

Brandenburg Gate (Brandenbuger Tor) is iconic Berlin. The history that this gate has witnessed is mind boggling:
-the statue on top was stolen by Napoleon and moved to Paris
-the statue was taken back by the Prussians and returned to Berlin
-survived WWII (albeit with damage from the bombings, which have been patched up... Look closely for the different coloured squares)
-was behind the Berlin Wall
And I'm sure many other events, from the mundane to the fantastic.
~
It's always interesting to see what manages to 'survive' development. It's the only city gate left of the 16 (and 2 river gates) built in the 1730s. But it seems like they chose to keep a good one 🙂. Definitely worth a trip to see it lit up at night if you get the chance.

Cheers to being able to travel again!
~
I don't know how long this will last, but I'm gonna squeeze ever last minute out of it.

Some people are introverts, some people are extroverts, I think I'd call myself a travelvert 😉 Nothing refuels me more than a 30+ hour travel day... which is weird, I know. Most people would be exhausted (and yes, considering all I managed was about an hour nap, I was physically exhausted by the end of it) but I can't wait to get out an explore!
~
The day started with a convoluted flight YVR-SEA-YVR before finally getting on this plane to FRA. After that, a few hours on the train to Berlin (where I had the aforementioned nap) and an evening of wandering and dinner and my spirits have never been higher! Looking forward to getting to know this city. Let me know if you have any suggestions ☺️

Remember travel?? After being grounded for almost 20 months it's finally time to take to the skies again!
This shot is from one of the few domestic flights I've taken over the last few months. Travel is still pretty restricted, with lots of hoops to jump through, but I'm itching to really get back into it.
I'll be kicking things off with an international trip next week, but will also be looking back as some trips from the "before times" 😉 Hope you enjoy!
