It's rice planting time in Japan! Our friend is a farmer and needed some help getting all the seedlings onto his field. We took these plant starters off these shelves and made an assembly line to put them all in place. Later this week, he will use a machine the distribute all the rice plants evenly through the field and then flood the field with water. There were 13 of these racks when we started so we placed a little under 1,000 blocks. And this was only one field! 😵

This weekend and I are going to be part of a festival. This town is famous for its handmade paper and every year the people of the town create mikoshi (portable shrines) covered in paper flowers to celebrate Sakura season. Matt and I are on gender specified teams where we'll be carrying our mikoshi with our groups and drinking sake out of large wooden buckets... I love Japan.

One year ago we left home to backpack through Asia. Instead, we made it to our first stop of Japan and fell so in love with it that we decided to stay. Just goes to show, you can't plan your life. Sometimes you just have to roll with it.
