Whenever I go to visit my friend who lives in Costa Rica, I always try and visit a new place. Finally went to La Fortuna to see the Volcano. We booked a full day tour and could barely walk the next day. We should have done it in two! Visited the Hanging Bridges Park and Arenal Water Fall.

Ketchikan was our last stop before disembarking in Vancouver, the town is really cute and full of history. On the ship, the day before a stop, they gave a lecture on the towns history. We also did a short three hour excursion that took us for a hike at Ward Creek Forestry Trail and Totem Bight State State Historical Park, another one booked thru Viator.

Our third stop we went exploring the town, we had to be back at the ship early and there was not much going on excursion wise. Walking along the coast you see whales and bald eagles. It was another beautiful day, thank goodness.

Second stop was the excursion for Skagway, which we booked thru Viator by the way. Visited British Columbia all the way to the Yukon Territory in Alaska. It snowed, we saw sand dunes, towns with rivers, it had a little bit of everything. Definitely my favorite day.

Juneau was our first land stop on the cruise. We set out to do our excursions and they got cancelled last minute due to weather. We were able to see the Mendenhall Glacier, went to the Alaska State Museum, did a short walk around town and said hello to Patsy Ann the statue of the deaf Bull Terrier. It was cold and rainy but we made the best of it.

Went on a late May cruise to Alaska with this crew on Celebrity Summit! We flew into Anchorage two days before and did an Anchorage Trolley Tour, met up with a friend at 49th State Brewery and then a nice hike along Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The cruises leave a few hours away in Seaward Alaska. We used ACT Big Bus Transportation which picked us up at a hotel near our Airbnb and took us to the port. The tour included a few scenic stops including one to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. By the way, why didn't we take the train you ask? The train was booked almost a year in advance! Like what!? This was a lot less and just as wonderful because the train tracks were just below the road.
