To our guests and the Southwest Michigan community:

As this year draws to a close, we’re reflecting on the beauty of shared moments and the quiet strength in nature.

✨ You’ve shown us the power of resilience—making it through life’s challenges, one day at a time.
✨ You’ve reminded us that how life feels—peaceful, connected, and meaningful—matters far more than appearances.

The seasons of Southwest Michigan have taught us that every step of the journey has its purpose, and the best things take time.

As we step into the new year, let’s carry forward the lessons of the past and welcome the possibilities ahead.

From all of us at Wandering Soul Cabin, thank you for being part of this community. Here’s to a new year filled with rest, reflection, and renewal.

A Year by Lake Michigan

This year, I’ve been lucky enough to spend my days surrounded by the endless beauty of Lake Michigan. Each season brought its own magic, each moment a reminder of how deeply nature can ground us.

In the summer, the lake sparkled like a thousand tiny diamonds, inviting barefoot walks along the shore and endless sunsets that painted the sky in hues of gold and pink. Fall brought crisp mornings and waves crashing against rocky edges, a soundtrack to the trees shedding their colors.

Winter is here and can't wait to see the lake wrapped in stillness. Watching the frozen shoreline reminding me of the beauty in stillness and rest. And then spring—oh, spring. The thawing waters and soft blooms along the trails whispered of renewal and hope.

Living beside Lake Michigan this year has been a lesson in presence. The water doesn’t rush. It doesn’t compare. It simply is—steady, changing, and unapologetically itself.

As I look back on this year, I’m grateful for everything the lake has taught me: to slow down, to embrace change, and to find peace in the rhythm of the world around me.

What has nature taught you this year?

This season, let’s remember that true joy comes not from what we keep, but from what we give. Whether it’s sharing a kind word, lending a helping hand, or offering a gift from the heart, giving creates connections and spreads love.

When we give, we inspire others to do the same. It’s a ripple effect that turns small acts into something much greater.

Let’s all take a moment to think about how we can make a difference. Together, we can create a world where giving and sharing is the norm.

What’s your favorite way to give back?

As we gather around the table this Thanksgiving, reflect on the blessings—both big and small—that fill our lives. Gratitude isn’t just about celebrating the highlights; it’s about finding joy in the everyday moments that often go unnoticed.

This year, I’m especially thankful for:
• The people who make life brighter, even on the hardest days
• The lessons learned through challenges that helped me grow
• The simple comforts—laughter, good food, and warm memories

Gratitude is powerful. It shifts our perspective, helps us savor the present, and reminds us of what truly matters. Today and every day, let’s choose to appreciate the gifts in our lives and share that appreciation with others.

Wishing you all a Thanksgiving filled with love, connection, and a heart full of gratitude!

What are you most thankful for this year? 🧡 #2024

As winter approaches, fire becomes a symbol of warmth, transformation, and connection. Its glow invites reflection, helping us release the old and spark new intentions. Gather by a fire, light a candle, or engage in rituals that nurture your inner flame.

Balancing fire with the other elements—earth for grounding, air for clarity, and water for flow—restores harmony and strengthens resilience. This season, let fire illuminate your path, fostering comfort, renewal, and community.

“Even in the darkest night, the smallest flame can guide the way.”

No bad energy here!!

Did you know smudging may offer more than just a sense of calm? It generates negative ions, known for their powerful antidepressant effects—without the side effects of prescription medications.

This practice has deep roots in Indigenous cultures, where smudging has been used for centuries as a sacred ritual for cleansing, healing, and spiritual connection. Traditionally, herbs like sage, cedar, sweetgrass, or to***co were burned to purify spaces, people, or objects and to restore balance to mind and spirit. Indigenous wisdom teaches that smudging not only clears negative energy but also promotes harmony and well-being—a belief now supported by modern science.

A study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry provided more evidence. Researchers found that negative ions in fresh air helped alleviate symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and even worked as a preventative measure. The mechanism? These ions influence serotonin levels in the brain, much like antidepressants do.

When you smudge with natural materials like sage or cedar, you’re not just engaging in a wellness ritual—you’re participating in a time-honored practice rooted in Indigenous knowledge. Beyond cleansing spaces, smudging might also offer a natural boost to your mental health, connecting you to both ancient wisdom and the healing power of nature.

Have you tried smudging as part of your wellness routine? Let us know your thoughts!

Forest bathing, or "shinrin-yoku," is one of nature's best gifts! 🌲✨ It’s not about hiking or exercise, but simply being in the presence of trees, soaking in the calming atmosphere. Studies show that spending time in the forest can reduce stress, boost your mood, and even strengthen your immune system. Just a slow stroll or sitting quietly among the trees can refresh your mind and body. Next time you're feeling overwhelmed, consider a peaceful walk in the woods—it’s like a natural reset button for your soul. 🌳

Not all that Wander are Lost

The Wandering Soul Experience... Everyone wishes they could share their most memorable experiences with others. We wanted to share our modern country farmhouse with a small town beach house feel that pays homage to our free spirited path towards finding true happiness. We wanted to create an all around experience for families, couples, and individuals to remember for a lifetime. When searching for the ideal location for our first maiden cabin we wanted to find a balance between quiet open country living with a lake house feel with plenty of activities for kids, families, couples, and individuals alike. Whether you want to unwind in the cabins large screened in side porch, spend the weekend on a private beach, or shop in the local downtown boutiques and experience local fine dining, we have everything there is to offer. From our top local restaurant guide, to our favorite breweries, beaches, distilleries, wineries, seasonal fruits and vegetable picking spots, hiking & biking trails, kayaking, private yoga instruction and stand up paddle boarding. Grab a cup of coffee, open up the french doors off the main bedroom, take a seat on the back porch, and watch the sun rise over the community farm pond while overlooking the cabins huge picturesque private estate like backyard. Get back to nature, grab a fishing pole, and walk right out the screened in porch to the fully stocked community farm pond in back. If you take a walkaround the community farm pond you may notice the solar powered pond management system which The Wandering Soul donated to the Centennial Farms community. Even though The Wandering Soul was born out of finding balance in ours and others personal eco systems were firm believers in environmental sustainability and balance as well.

Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.”
