Such a lovely night on Wednesday for our weekly, midweek hike! Covered about 6.8 miles around the west side of Center City including the BF Parkway, Rittenhouse Square, Fitler Square, and the Schuylkill River Trail and Boardwalk. And yes, I am fascinated by the endless supply of beautiful doors, and homes, found throughout the city. Looks like beautiful weather in the weeks ahead so we might plan some impromptu evening strolls as well - stay tuned!

Such a fabulous night last night for our first monthly city walk. Designed to a more leisurely pace with the occasional historical story from yours truly, we definitely enjoyed a beautiful evening as we walked about 7 miles over the course of three hours after sunset, rambling through parts of South Philly including Queen Village, the Italian Market area, East Passyunk, Little Saigon, Pennsport, and more! Hope to do these on the last or next to last Friday of every month. Great way to see different parts of the city in the safety of a group and with a knowledgeable leader.

Still have a few tickets left for the Phillies game on Monday September 23rd versus the Chicago Cubs. Game starts at 6:40PM. We will be tailgating beforehand for those interested and I will be stopping by one of the best places in Philly to pick up hoagies for anyone interested for the tailgate and/or the game.

This is the last home series of the year. The seats are now going for $45 and the price will probably increase between now and the game as the fightin Phils continue their march towards the playoffs so it's quite the the bargain at just $30 a person.

Hoping yesterday was the last extremely hot and humid day for hiking as conquering our monthly Manayunk Staircase Challenge becomes tougher as the temperature soars. But despite the heat the group managed to kick ass and complete 6.5 miles with over 1,000 feet of elevation last evening in just two and half hours. If you want to get in better shape, enjoy the outdoors, and/or love to explore then join us on Meetup.com

Great time this past Wednesday on our weekly evening/night hike. Covered 7.5 miles through the "middle" stretch of Wissahickon Park on both the Yellow and Orange Trails, on both the Western and Eastern sides of the park. Just wish we knew how to work our phone's camera a little better to capture some better pictures once it became really dark. If you live in the greater Philadelphia area, join us on Meetup!!!

Got a great workout in on Monday Night covering 8.5 miles on the Green Ribbon Trail alongside of the Wissahickon Creek north of Philadelphia. Despite the cloud coverage ruining what was supposed to be our monthly "Moonlight" hike, the clouds and the occasional soft mist/sprinkle did not stop us from enjoying ourselves and time spent outside with friends new and old. Hoping the end of summer and fall weather cooperates on more hikes, but we'll still be out there no matter the conditions!

Thanks to Seek - Explore - Wander for co-hosting with us!

Great weather for our weekly, mid-week night hike on Wednesday. Last night took us through the trails and on the streets of the impressive, and beautiful, township of Gladwyne on Philly's main line. This used to be one of the top ten most expensive zip codes in the country, based on average home prices, and is still a haven for the influential and well to do of the area.

Don't miss our monthly full moon night hike next Monday, though weather may push it to Tuesday. Shout out and thanks to our sister tour, travel, and adventure company Seek - Explore - Wander for co-hosting with us! Information and sign up here:

We had a beautiful day for a 12+ mile out and back hike from St. Peter's Village to Hopewell Furnace National Historical Site this past Saturday. Rolling trails, beautiful farmland, and a slippery and wet, but totally awesome rock scramble at the end. Followed it up by jumping into French Creek to cool off after a great workout.

Six miles in two hours tonight as we galloped across the awesome and beautiful neighborhoods of Fairmount and Brewerytown tonight. Rain managed to hold off for most of the hike and when it did spritz, it felt refreshing. SO glad we got a break from the humidity as well. Monthly city hikes on the first Wednesday of the month as well as monthly night hikes through the city on a Friday each month. Join us!

Despite the heat and lingering humidity, seriously, when will it break?, we had an awesome time conquering the Manayunk Staircase Challenge yesterday evening. Over six miles, and up, up, up 16 staircases and the streets of Manayunk and Roxborough to climb more than 1,000 feet in elevation. Looking forward to doing this in the cooler Autumn in a month or two!

Awesome night for out free monthly full moon hike in partnership with Seek - Explore - Wander. Cooler temps, slightly lower humidity, though still high, and not too cloudy makes for a fun evening of hiking. Plus, a little time to splash around in the Wissahickon Creek on a summer's day!

We had an awesome time hiking the Billy Goat Trail through the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park yesterday just outside of Washington D.C. One of the hottest hikes we've ever done, by mid afternoon the rocks where difficult to hold for more than a few seconds as they were scorching! But the heat was not enough to stop us enjoying the trail's awesome rock scrambles and a half an hour swim in the Potomac halfway through helped keep us cool. Definitely want to come back in the fall some year to check out the amazing colors we imagine this place gets.

It was certainly a hot and humid evening last night to conquer our monthly Manayunk Staircase Challenge with the group. Cut the hike a bit short as we ourselves were exhausted and dehydrated. But manage 800+ feet of elevation and over 6 miles in just about 2 hours so definitely worked up a good sweat.

No outdoor events scheduled for the group this weekend, which turned out in our favor given the oppressive heat and humidity. However, we did gather for a rocking good time with the awesome Whiskey Logic at the Bridgeport Ribhouse to dance the night away last evening! Not all adventures need to be outdoors in order to be wild!

Despite the heat and humidity, yesterday was a great evening/night to host our monthly full moon hike. Tackling 9 miles through the Wissahickon with a break along the creek to cool off, the moon was wonderfully bright and except for a few places where the canopy always grows thick this time of year, we managed to go most of the distance without needing our headlamps. Join us on future hikes including our monthly Full Moon series! Special thanks to members Jimmy & Jessica for the photos! And shoutout to our friends at Seek - Explore - Wander for co-hosting with us.

A wonderful evening last night for a stroll through the northern, or upper as we call it, stretches of the Wissahickon in Philadelphia. From meadows filled with deer, rabbit, and countless birds, to the creek, to the last remaining covered bridge in the city, the Wissahickon never fails to offer great views and a great workout.

Potential thunderstorms did not stop us from covering about 7 miles last night as we ambled across the Ben Franklin Bridge and through the streets and small alleyways of Old City and Northern Liberties. In fact, other than a quick spritz for a few minutes around Washington Square the rain stayed away last night!

Definitely no thunderstorms last evening. Nothing but clear skies, a great sunset, and amazing views while exploring John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge right next to Philadelphia International Airport. Must have spotted a dozen rabbits or more, got up close to countless birds including a great blue heron that flew away before anyone could get a good photo, gaggles of geese, hordes of turtles, and plenty more, though with it being high tide in the marsh when we were there, we saw very few fish.

What an awesome night for a full moon hike through the "upper" stretches of Wissahickon Park. Clear skies, a bright moon, and great peeps. Saw several rabbits, some folks saw deer, and everyone got to meet the resident cat that lives at the environmental center in the park.

First 10+ mile hike since October. Managed about 12 miles today as we navigated obstacles and road/bridge closures around the East and West sides of Fairmount Park. We even managed to get capture on camera by an ABC Channel 6 cameraman who is doing a piece for the station next weekend on the anniversary of the dedication of the Civil War Monument in Philadelphia. Oh - and a snake, frogs, and plenty of squirrels among other creatures along the way.

The trail was muddy and the creek was high at certain crossings, but the rain held off and we thoroughly enjoyed our hike along the Green Ribbon Trail which follows the course of the Wissahickon Creek as it flows south towards the city.
