FEATURED PROPERTY - Katavi Wildlife Camp is a small camp located in the heart of Katavi National Park, southern Tanzania. Situated on the banks of the Katuma River, in the game-rich region of Ikuu, this is one of only two permanent safari camps in Katavi, ensuring a quiet safari experience away from the crowds. The camp overlooks the Katuma River and the Katisunga Plains, which provides great game-viewing opportunities, particularly during the dry season.

Katavi is one of the most remote and wild of Tanzania's game parks, attracting only a very small number of tourists each year. Access is via light aircraft only.

Katavi isn't a luxury camp, but it's hardly basic either. The rooms are comfortably furnished, and the food and service is generally very good. Nevertheless, it's the location that is the real attraction here. You shouldn't expect the facilities of a luxury Serengeti camp (though the camp does have a WiFi connection, which is something of a novelty in remote Tanzania!)

Mahale Mountains National Park

Set against the shores of Lake Tanganyika in the extreme west of Tanzania, Mahale Mountains National Park is perhaps Tanzania's most remote wilderness area. It is home to one of the largest populations of wild chimpanzee in the world, and offers the best chimp trekking safaris in Africa.

Mikumi National Park and Udzungwa Mountains

Situated just north of the Selous Game Reserve, in southern Tanzania, Mikumi National Park offers flat horizons and wide savannah plains that teem with game - just the sort of environment that one associates with East Africa. It attracts fewer visitors than the more famous northern safari parks, and has only a small number of safari camps.
