Dianne Graves, auctioneer, founded Vintage Prairie Auctions in 2014 upon successful completion of auctioneer school at the Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. Dianne is trained to auction personal property, antiques and collectibles, real estate, benefits, and more, and looks forward to serving Eureka, Greenwood county, and surrounding communities! Some of the immediate benefit

s of auctions are:
• Quick, immediate sale of items.
• Competitive bidding determines the market value of each item.
• The price of any item at an auction does not negotiate downward.
• Targeted marketing to the right audience for niche, specialized items. Our goal is to reach the greatest number of buyers for our sellers, and the successful way to do this is through the internet! We are working right now to establish internet auctions as a service to our customers. Credit and debit card payments will be accepted at all Vintage Prairie Auctions! Our goal is to establish easy, secure, and reliable forms of payments for our auction buyers. Of course, we always accept cash, and a personal check. If you have need for auction services, please call Vintage Prairie Auctions. We work hard to make your sale a success, and we make sure we have fun in the process! As hard as it is for me to utter the words, I must. It's not *all* about antique wood furniture. (I know, I can't believe I said it either).

Sometimes, it's about cookware and dishes and Pyrex!

Quality cook are is another timeless investment. This estate includes a collection of All-clad cookware (see photo), a Faberware electric skillet, vintage WearEver, and more.

I have an ENTIRE table devoted to Pyrex of many varieties! (Much more than pictured.)

And back to the wood furniture...the other picture features an 8-foot 6-inch long table! It kinda goes on forever. I think it would make a great bench for an entry hallway.

Story Time (with Relevance):

A good friend of mine moved his 20-something daughter into an apartment as she starts her post-college career. He mentioned that he'd be shopping for furniture next, and I pointed out that my next sale (June 1, 2, and 3, 2018) is full of awesome serviceable furniture! He said (and I quote), "Yeah, but I think your furniture is a little *old* for my daughter." With as much chagrin as I could muster, I shot back, "There's a *reason* it's OLD. It lasts FOREVER!"

It's true, isn't it? For those of us who own antique furniture, we treasure it; we adore it; we care for it; we move it from home to home, career to career. And, it serves us dependably, decade after decade, with character and appeal.

Join me on June 1, 2, and 3, 2018 at 202 South Pennsylvania in Howard Kansas and find your newest *old* treasure. Serviceable dressers (these guys don't just belong in the bedroom anymore!); solid wood bedroom sets; buffets; tables; chairs; marble and walnut; oak; maple; all beautiful AND functional!

Scroll through the photos in the attached link for a sample of what you'll find!

Happy First Day of Spring! A glorious day it is!

Thank you to everyone who visited our Estate Sale in downtown Eureka. We were happy to see you all, and I hope we made a lot of folks happy! I know we had a lot of fun visiting with folks, and bargaining with folks, and watching folks load up and go away smiling! (By the way, that tall guy who helped so many of you load up....he's my son. I hope he treated you all well. :) )

So many of you asked about items that do not sell in the on-site sale, and I want to make sure everyone knows what happens next. We will take most of the items and sell them online. There are specialty markets for most items, and I tap into them. It takes a little longer, but we are able to maximize sales that way.

My objective at Vintage Prairie Auctions is to earn the most dollar for my sellers.

And, if you are interested in selling items you've accumulated, here are some ideas:
Vintage Sewing patterns (pre-1980, preferably pre-1970)
Metal Advertising Signs (authentic)
Historic documents (authentic)
Antique Books
Antique Jewelry
Vintage Toys (metal trucks, metal toy sets, etc.)
And much more...

Let us know if you'd like any help selling items online. And we'll let you know when we're ready for another sale! Our location at 111 North Main in Eureka will make us easy to find! Make sure you "like" our FB page so you'll get future notices.

Have a great day!

Here's the latest addition to the front of the building....a full glass door with an old Salem cigarette advertisement in the middle of the glass! I found the door at an antique store, and it almost fit perfectly! Almost. Which means my son and my best guy had some work to do! Obviously paint is needed, but we'll wait for warmer weather. Of course, I already have the paint picked out! :)

Think of the projects you can do with these! 6 different suitcases...what a variety! $10 each, or two for $15.

Natural light is a love of mine! So, when we acquired the building, there was only one window on the east side... limiting all that beautiful morning sun, and limiting my view of the street. (Plus the existing window wasn't all that attractive).

Knowing that windows are expensive, I went on a mission to find what I wanted at auctions or antique stores. My first score was a double hung window that we installed in the north wall where there hadn't been a window. Added light and a view, but my main obsession was still the street facing window on the front. More hunting. And no success, unless you count a retail quote for a new window for $700.

And then one day while poking around through stuff that had been left behind in the building and stored in a very out of the way place, we found "my" window! Old, filthy, and missing one pane, but still, it was perfect!!! And it fit perfectly horizontally. Vertically, we expanded the opening by a foot or so. More light....and much more aesthetic value overall.

So, we achieved what I wanted, and the end product was right under our noses the entire time!

But the window story doesn't stop there!

In the process of installing the larger window, we took off interior paneling between the window and the door opening, and discovered a "new" window that had been hidden from inside and outside view. It measures 20" wide and 88" tall, aligned alongside the door. And here's the best part, it has a twin on the other side of the door! And a transom window above the door!

My photos don't do it all justice, but remember, it is a work in progress. Take a look as you drive down Main Street in Eureka.

We've been busy discovering previously hidden features at our building in downtown Eureka.

After peeling up the glued-down carpet, we've found what were once beautiful hardwood floors. The glue coverage detracts a bit from the beauty today, but we are optimistic!

The dream for the building's appearance is starting to come together. Stay tuned.

Good morning!

Vintage Prairie Auctions has been busy and is about to get busier!

In 2016, we purchased a building in downtown Eureka, Kansas, and we've been working hard to improve its appearance. We use the building for storage, staging photos, and shipping. We have a long way to go, but we are determined!

We had some great online sales in 2016. Some items that did *really* well are mid-century items (starburst clocks), Zippo lighter, metal advertising signs, antique books, and metal toys from the 1950s.

In the next few weeks/early spring, we'll be doing a few on-site sales....in Eureka, Howard, and Topeka. Check back frequently for updates and photos.

For now, check out the photo album I just added of hardwood furniture. There are some very nice items here, and I'll be adding more hardware. Additional albums will be added soon.

Thanks for stopping by!
