Most contracts cover both services and buying the mobile, and once the contracts has finished, the phone is paid off, but many companies, including EE and Three, continue to charge for the phone.

Why arranging Home Insurance with a Price Comparison site is not always best

Whilst advertisements from talking meerkats or Welsh tenors stick in the memory, the reality of buying home insurance from price comparison sites is not quite as appealing. Buying from these sites does present problems, with consumers swayed by the cheapest prices rather than the level of cover. Obtaining the lowest price is central to online insurance providers and buyers are naturally attracted to a cheap price. But in reality the online sites are too focused on price, without advising customers of other important policy details, such as the policy excess.

Cheaper is not always better and many consumers neglect to check the small print of the policy when they sign up. Optional add-ons and policy limits may not be explained correctly and cancellation and adjustment fees may not be stated. Unfortunately this means that some end up paying for a policy that will not give them the level of protection needed in the event of a claim.

Speaking to a regulated broker ensures a professional service and you can pose any questions that you have about the cover required, something that is not an option when using a price comparison site.

Most price comparison sites also only offer 2 and 3 * policies whilst most brokers will offer 5* Defaqto rated policies.

If you are concerned about your existing Home Insurance or have just received your renewal notice and are looking for a new quote then please do not hesitate to contact me

Your Home may be protected if you die? But what if you live?

Around 74 % of protection plans sold are for life cover only, but the stats show that suffering a Critical Illness is a far greater risk for you
These days the average age of a first time buyer is between 29 and 31 and last year 17% of Critical Illness claims were made by people under 40. A frightening statistic

Buying a home is likely to be the biggest purchase that you ever make so it makes perfect sense that you should have it adequately protected. If you are in the unfortunate position of suffering a Critical illness then your sole aim is to get better as quick as possible, not worrying about how you are going to pay your mortgage
I understand that some clients may feel that Critical Illness cover is expensive and in some cases it can be if you have to protect a large mortgage, but with more people surviving Critical Illness then often they just need to protect their lifestyle for a shorter period of time rather than the full mortgage. So taking out a Critical Illness policy to cover say two year’s salary could be enough to buy you a bit of time to deal with the consequences of illness.

Sometimes the other stumbling block to Critical Illness is that you may think it will never happen to you. I would ask you to take a minute and just think about the number of people you know who have had cancer, stroke or heart attack. It will probably surprise you.

So if you now think that Critical Illness cover is an area of your protection needs that you have neglected then it is not too late to look into this type of cover.

Bright Grey bolsters Critical Illness Cover

Bright Grey will from today (29 September) enhance its critical illness cover to include leading definitions for the five most common reasons clients claim: cancer, heart attack, stroke, multiple sclerosis and children’s critical illness cover.

The specialist protection provider owned by Royal London Group is focusing on these definitions because almost 90 per cent of its critical illness claims are for these five conditions.
