I decided not to just document our climb but write a love story which hopefully will land to the publisher's hand. Chapter V to. Leave comment and suggestion pag napublish paakyat ako ng libre. hehehe

CHAPTER V

“So, ano na? Sabi nga ni Sir, “Let the positive vibes of a good news heal an ailing soul,”pamimilit ni Trinity.

“I am inviting you to a dinner,” sabi ng nasa kabilang linya.

“I’m glad I made you happy, binibini.”

“So be it.

“After we ate, dumiretso ako sa Tandang Sora for my 4:30 class. Kakatapos ko lang when I phoned you.”

“Sir?”

“Yes, binibini,”

“I want you to know na ngayon pa lang, that I am grateful for the bliss I am feeling right now. It might be uncertain until when kung ano mang meron tayo at meron ako, but in the future, looking back to this, I am certain I’ll still be happy I made my “yes” this afternoon.”

“Then, we should not deny ourselves of the thought that in that future we will look back together, both happy of that “yes” you made this afternoon.”

“Future presents limitless possibility. And the chance of you and me, lying on a beach many years from now, older and hopefully wiser, watching the sun set, is one joyful possibility, Binibini”

“I like the sound of it. James. I like the thought of it. At sana may guiding star na lalabas to guide me to find you there.”Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon nabanggit niya ang pangalan ng lalaking ngayon ay labis-labis na nagpapasaya alam niyang labis-labis niyang minamahal.

“ANG PAG-IBIG AY PULAG”

Mt. Pulag equals its reputation as one of the most breath taking scene in the country. No wonder, despite towering at 2,922 meters, it draws an average of 6,000 outdoor enthusiast every year, both seasoned and neophyte climber. As of the time of the writing of this article, the Mt. Pulag National Park is fully booked from October 2015 up to May of 2016. Inevitably, First-timer will fall in love with mountain climbing after walking the path that leads to the “Pantheon”of Luzon.
April 3, once again, I found myself listening to Ma’am Emerita Tamiray, Mt. Pulag National Park’s Superintendent, as she orients climbers who were booked to visit the park. She was still able to be completely reasonable and funny as ever. Her jokes still tickle the listeners, including me despite hearing it twice already. She reminded us to be extra careful because a typhoon was set to land by Saturday in Bicol and advise us to employ immediate evacuation plan in case heavy pouring starts. We arrived at Badabak Ranger Station, which also serve as the jump-off for the climb, around 11:00. Our group feasted on a pre-prepared lunch catered by Ma’am Gina and started the 3 hour ascent to Camp 2 exactly 1:00 P.M. via Ambangeg Trail.

Along the trail, visitors will be introduced to the creativity of the Locals in building stone-carved rice and vegetable terraces. The mountain side is laden with pine trees signalling you we are far from the comfort and humdrum of the city life. After Camp 1, we enter the forest which is a home to 528 different species of plants. Standing out is the Benguet Pines which dominates the mountain side of Luzon. The temperature started to drop here.
After three hours, we were finally rewarded of the commanding view of the grassland from Camp 2. We immediately set up camp and prepare dinner while our participants explore the immediate surroundings. At 4 P.M. the temperature plunged and jackets and warm clothing were paraded as if a winter show was being held. Papaitan (prepared by Sir Rhoy), pork sisig (by Sir Aying), Adobo (by Sir Jess) compensated the tiring activity of the day. Sir Jah hosted the party with his portable bar and his unlimited stories about “ALAMAT”. I was personally glad to see my invites enjoying the journey and the new friendship they forged.

A certain must-do to complete the climb is waking up at three in the morning to catch the sunrise at the summit. Unaccustomed to low temperature, your body will surely shake in spite of several layers of clothing. But amidst the cold and the early scampering over lost shoe or slipper, modest sound of laughs and the never ending retelling of yesterday’s climb echoed at the campsite. Hot coffee proved to be the most effective weapon against the heavy forest mist and the chilling three A.M. mountain gust. Everyone was very much alive that no one seemed to mind of the arduous two- hour hike to the summit and the biting cold ahead.

Our group left the campsite exactly 3:30. The brick road preludes our entrance to the grassland. Groups of mountaineers had made their way up creating a procession of light ahead. The moon shine, the ocean of stars and their flickering light, and flashes from cameras lighted the way. This journey to the summit is truly a test of grit with the cold. But the deep anticipation of the beauty about to behold powered every soul making this journey to one of the most scenic mountain in the country.

After a two-hour hike, hundreds of group pictures, and tons of “selfies”, our group made it to the summit. Group of mountaineers had already found their niche behind the bamboo grasses to seek protection from the cold. We join the other “pilgrims” patiently waiting for the sun to rise barring foggy skies and the numbing cold. Below us, thick blanket of clouds formed an ocean of white canopy readying for the few minutes of one of the nature’s most spectacular beauties.

Everyone readied their camera to document their experience of this “other-worldly”scenery. Each group picked their spot to capture the most of the what was prepared for those who dared walked in the “Playground of the Gods”. This is my third time to be standing in front of such beauty but I seem can’t get enough of it. This is one of those moments I acknowledges my finite nature in front of a divine and infinite being whose hand and wisdom architected this exhilarating beauty.

Charged to prepare breakfast, I made my descent back to the campsite earlier than the other members. We made hot “champorado”, “sopas”, rice, and fried egg and dried fish for the participants. I even got ambitious to prepare pancake that morning.

First timers are usually late to comeback, savoring the experience up to the last minute, fearing they might not be given the same opportunity again. They were the most excited to tell their story to the world of what is it like to “walk in the dwellings of the Gods”
